While perusing some old photos I came across this....
Now ... I can't remember much about this , I know I bought it from a shop in Birmingham city centre and I know it would have been in the first half of 1987 as there is an England football shirt (world cup 1986) hanging next to it , and also I went to Birmingham on the train ( didn't have a car 'til late '87.
What I can't remember is the model , I think I paid around £150 for it .
I went to the shop with an old friend of mine who was a decent player for his advice . Now I must say that I was pretty much starting out then and couldn't play much let alone know what a good guitar was ( was playing a SG copy) so my friend said for the money it was a good starter Kramer.
Sad thing is this guitar couldn't have meant much to me as I left it at a birds house who I'd been seeing and I never saw it again.
Anyway ...can anyone shed some light on the model and specs for me , any information would be cool.

Looks like an old starter-model non-Floyd Pacer...check VintageKramer.com to see if you can find the specific model...
Will do.
I noticed that it had a coil tap switch on the photo , not that that meant anything to me at the time.
Hey... my pc fucked up , but I have a new mega fucker now.
No news on the project but I have put another humbucker in the red one.
A friend of mine who deals in gear from time to time gave it to me to try , there's no name all I know is it's 11.5k . It's probably quite a cheap pup as he gave it to me ....but it sounds very good , in fact I like it a lot.
It also allows me to keep my fender chrome scratchplate which I like with that guitar. We'll see how it copes live if and when I do anything!
Actually that mystery Strat coulda been a JB Player from the mid-80s. They made a model just like it....there are a couple on eBay right now.
Actually my Tele came with one of those bladed S-sized humbuckers, it says Duncan Performer which I'm putting into one of my Jap strats.
I think they're made in Korea. Mine's not bad.
I think the nearest match for that kramer is the Aerostar model , it was a far eastern made guitar and was probably plywood.
Not an exact match but close enough , unless anyone knows different.
No news on the project at the moment . I'm looking to buy a Candy apple red body but I'm spending loads on a motorbike project as well.
Better put the Missus on the street.
I have acquired this tonight.
An old friend called me to say he was down on his luck and needed a bit of cash , he offered me this six month old , barely played and in mint condition , jewel blue Ibanez GRG270B.
I gave him £80 for it!
Worth a punt I thought

Congrats!
I know they're only base entry , although this looks like it was the top base entry . Anyway ,after playing it for a few HOURS it's really taken me back to my old 1987 RG550 , and for £80!!!!
I bought it 'cos it was cheap and I knew I could sell it on for a profit whilst helping out a mate....But I might just keep it!
Ok ....an update!!
I sold on that blue Ibanez to a mate for £100 , but the best bit is that he also gave me two cheap '80s superstrats....
The natural coloured on was made in korea or similar by a company called Maison , the Maison name on the headstock is in the Gibson font !! it's a pretty crappy guitar but i bet theres not that many around.
The black one is a marlin sidewinder , a cheap strat copy in it's day made in Wales UK , it has a Kahler style locking bridge , BUT the best thing is that the body is fender dimensions almost exactly so you remember that neck i got? .... it fits the body perfectly and the body is naturally reliced as it's around 25 years old.
A David Gilmour strat project is what I'm planning to do.
I tried a couple of Marlins back in the day, they were shocking.
Yep Sesh .... but if you think a marlin is bad you should try a maison, truly awful
OK Bitches, Here be some of my musical things past and present.
more of dem
Yet still more Warwicks
Nice basses Les.
New addition!
Ibanez RG 350 DX .... I liked the feel of that Ibanez I just sold and have thought for a long time about a better model , so yeah let's have one .... and it's good , very good.
But the other story concerns my Malmsteen , as I was going to the store to buy the Ibanez I thought I'd get some idea on what I could get in part ex for it if in the future I wanted to swap for something like a Les Paul etc. So bearing in mind that I bought this guitar from this store and also spent a lot of cash on other things namely digitech pedal and the epi lp , I was hopeful that they would be fair .....Looking around in the store I found the Ibanez , ok that's what I'm here for so I found one of the assistants and asked him two questions " How much is the Ibanez as I would like to buy it" and " What would you give me for my Malmsteen as I'm thinking of a Les Paul in the near future" his replies were " £350 for the RG" and " I'll get someone to look at the Malmsteen" . So after a couple of minutes this guy comes up and I recognise him as the guy who sold me the Malm 3 years ago , and he recognises me too ....... I open the case " that's in mint condition " he says " I remember you buying it " he says " what did you pay for it?" " £1350 three years ago" I said ....." hmmm " he goes " it's only worth £600 " ..... " there's no market for them , even on ebay they only go for that , no one wants them" so I said " On your website the same model goes for £1450 and this is a mint one " " well it's still only worth £600 ( as he's nooding on it the cheeky bastard) , so you want to buy that Ibanez then?" ...... " Yeah I do mate .... but not from you , goodbye"
I walked a mile across City and bought the Ibanez from another smaller shop , £20 cheaper .... but this is the rub , I have spent £1000's in that store over the years , they know I have, and to be insulted with an offer of £600 for a 2007 mint bullet Malmsteen is sticking in my craw , I don't need or particulary want to sell it but I find i don't use it too much , so I'll be hanging on to it.
As for the big store in Birmingham England ..... Fuck you.
Was this Guitar Guitar?
I see they are selling a Playboy Strat for £15 000. I will never understand that kind of nonsense.
My new toy Yamaha 01X thingy from eBay.
Still on page 2 of 160 of the instruction manual so all I can do is switch it on and off and watch the motorised faders going up and down.
About $400 but the poor £ exchange rate confuses these things a bit at the moment.
They were 5 times that new when they came out here 5 or 6 years ago so I thought a good deal. Although they don't make them any more there is lots of stuff on the web.
Not a bad price. It's got all the bells and whistles you need. Navigation takes a bit of getting used to. But once you do it's a piece of cake..
I have done a deal a few days ago for something that I have wanted for years and years .... this is momentous for me regarding gear ... the holy grail .... for me .
Won't get my hands on it until Tuesday but as soon as I do I'll post some pics.
YEAH!!
Yeah I saw the advert too, looking forward to hearing how you get on.
Christ.... you will all be envious ...or mildly disinterested but ....it's going to happen.
OH YEAH!
Is it Tuesday yet? What, no hints just a cryptic "I did something" post or two? Details, man!
He's too busy with those stigmata openings...
It might be tomorrow now.... hopefully , I won't say anything until it's in my possesion .... but God my holy grail is near.
you gettin' the new vh disc before everybody?
Another one of those classic genius posts, sure to generate responses. You log on the next day to see what your witty gem has produced to find no one gets it and 2 knotheads want to stick their dicks in it... Well played, sir!!
No Pete ... better than that.
It's gear ...remember!
And when I get it hopefully tomorrow I'll share it with you all.
Cool, hope to see something tomorrow.
So do I Jay , so do I.
