The episode is in Season 1 - Ep 3. It's called "Spiders".

There's a scene where Shandling is dressed as a hockey goalie, they cut to a scene where you can see the band. Is the guitarist BY?

LS is a great show. A lot of jabs at Letterman and Leno. Thank you public library DVD collection!
