—> —> There could not be a worse time for the Cardinals to have injury problems on defense. They face the Packers, one of the NFL’s best passing teams, on Sunday with three starters facing significant injuries.

What’s worse: They each play positions where the Cardinals have little depth. Free safety Antrel Rolle(notes) missed last week’s game with a thigh bruise. The Cardinals are thin at that spot since Matt Ware(notes) (knee) was placed on injured reserve last month. Rolle probably will play Sunday, but it’s questionable if he’ll be at full speed.

The same is probably true with cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie(notes), who bruised a knee cap against the Packers last week. Rodgers-Cromartie was sore after the game and walking with a limp. He said he will play. If he can’t, Michael Adams(notes) would start and the Packers had success attacking him last week.

Defensive end Calais Campbell(notes) had surgery Monday to repair a his broken left thumb. He will play with a cast, which will limit his effectiveness. His backup, Alan Branch(notes), has done a decent job in a reserve role, but Campbell (seven sacks, two blocked field-goal attempts) is a playmaker.—Kent Somers

The Cowboys can beat the Vikings, but they have to get past the Eagles for a third time this season. I know it is tough to beat the same team three times in one year, but the Boys are a better football team. The difference is easy to see. Philly is one dimensional on offense. Last week they rushed for a total of 37 yards against Dallas. It's hard to beat a very good defense like that. The Cowboys keep their opponents guessing run or pass.

Ditto! ... I've been a fan of the Packers since I was about 8 or 9 years old. They used to really stink when I first started watching them ...

I remember a comment by then-NFL commentator Jerry Glanville, who said of the Green Bay Packers in the early 1990s--just before the Mike Holmgren/Ron Wolf-era (paraphrasing): "If you're not cheatin', you're not tryin'!" ...

[Packers' CB] Charles Woodson Named NFC Defensive Player Of The Month

This is from Packers.com: Charles Woodson Named NFC Defensive Player Of The Month ...
DEFENSE: CB CHARLES WOODSON, GREEN BAY PACKERS
                                • Woodson had 20 tackles, two interceptions - including a 45-yard touchdown - and seven passes defensed. Green Bay went 4-1 during the month and finished the regular season by winning seven of the final eight games.
                                • The Green Bay defense finished the season ranked No. 1 in the NFC allowing 284.4 yards per game. The Packers led the NFL with 30 interceptions, 40 takeaways and a +24 turnover differential.
                                • Woodson had two interceptions during the month, including one in Week 17 against Arizona that he returned 45 yards for a touchdown. He recorded a career-high nine interceptions this season, tied for the most in the NFL. His three interception-return touchdowns also tied for the most in the league.
                                • Since joining the team in 2006, Woodson ranks second in the NFL with 28 interceptions and leads the league with seven interception-return touchdowns. His eight defensive touchdowns with the Packers are a franchise record.
                                • In his 12th season from Michigan, this is Woodson's fourth career Player of the Month Award and third this season (September, November). He is the only player to be named NFC Defensive Player of the Month multiple times in a season. He joins Pro Football Hall of Famer BARRY SANDERS and former Indianapolis kicker MIKE VANDERJAGT as the only players to win the award three times in a season.

                                Congratulations, Mr. Woodson!
