His tone for the last decade plus has been from his amps not his wonderful fingers. He is relying on the hi gain amps, and I feel he is lazy. He doesn't want to work as hard to push a plexi and pound on the strings. I doubt he hits the strings half as hard as he used to. I like the original 5150 for heavy stuff but not VH. Absoutely hate the 5150 III. What a horrible tone he had with VHIII. I can't blame the guitar, but I will blame the amp choice. This space for rent.Comment

My anticipation grows on a day-to-day basis. Why settle for something you have, if it's not as good as something you're out to get?

Never liked the MusicMans, much less the Peaveys, haven't tried an FMIC one yet. I know the Frankie replicas supposedly have the Brass Big-Block but not sure about the production ones.Originally posted by conmee

Dude, think of all the recordings you can think of, then ask yourself what kind of bridge they're using. Fuck, you're thick.Comment

What a supportive, encouraging uncle you are.
However, IF it's the kid's first guitar, Floyd = bad idea. A bridge that's finicky about tuning in the hands of a kid still learning to tune? Uh, no.Originally posted by conmee

If a brass block like this costs me $4 bucks in materials, I shouldn't have more than double that in labor.
That's $12 bucks, for a maybe-good idea. For a product giving some people who wanna tear their bridge apart an all afternoon tinkering thrill not unlike pissing in a wetsuit (warm feeling nobody will every notice but yourself).
If I get 200 percent markup wholesale on that 12, I'm doing pretty good at $36 so I'd say he's got it priced about right.
The Titanium is another story however.Comment
