    Cool Namm 2010

Time for the annual "bell and whistle" show that is NAMM to roll into the Anaheim Convention Center again...all the hot new gear under one roof...like the biggest, loudest Guitar Center/Electronics store in the world...or sticking your head in a hornet's nest... Still, a gearhead's playground.

Got heavy (regular) work stuff going on this week, was going to take a day off but can't so won't be going until Saturday (barring complications...at work) but figured I'd go ahead and start the thread in case someone who actually posts pictures *cough* makes it there before me...

Plus some of the manufacturers are already posting cool teaser pics and vids...

Like here's the Charvel section in the FMIC exhibit in the early stages of set up...

(Good to see them putting out some pointy headstocked Charvels this year!)

    The Jackson section under construction...

Biggest *gasp* thus far would be Yngwie's move to Seymour Duncan, and on a lesser-known note Tony MacAlpine leaving Carvin for Ibanez...will be interesting to see what develops...

    Don't hate.

I didn't get to last year, again, work - what is it with big projects in January?

SoCalChelle has always said if you want VH info, MA doesn't talk about it but Duggins the stage tech might if he knows you.

And since he won't hang with retards, and he doesn't know you I doubt you'd get any dirt.. just stay there in the tundra where you belong you filthy witch-wig.

Yeah, anyone with a camera and an interest in seeing the place half-empty is worthy of posting pics on THIS board, of all places.. you must know NAMM had less than half it's regular exhibit space sold as of late October which was the deadline for going. And I doubt they make any further progress than that in late add-ons by showtime so it is quite possible they close Hall E and a good portion of D hall too.

Yup, it's gonna look like a 1970's capacity show.. lo, how the mighty have fallen!

The good show to go as a must-see convention anymore is the Ampshow. NAMM is too snobbish anyways for non-industry folk to attend anyway..

The Summer NAMM show in Gnashville was a NAMM Show in name only. It fucking sucked. All the big manufacturers stayed away in droves. Even Gibson, Fender and Marshall were not there.

    I was warned about this!

Is this because of the huge storm - I was told it was because of the rediculous rain, not any "pullout."

OK, hate the Wolfgang-style truss-adjustment hack in the fretboard on the checkered one.

Why settle for something you have, if it's not as good as something you're out to get?

Duggie! I worked a VH show being a hired hand that night and Dugan told us we were part of the crew and get something to eat because it was going to be a long night. He was VH's road manager in those days.

There was some huge fat fuck in an orange SECURITY shirt and we were thinking the catering table was empty because that beast scarfed it all. Then I'm working the barricade and look out toward the mixing console and that big fat fuck had these huge can headphones on and was tottally head banging to the board mix. Funny as shit.

I totally agree. Carving out a chunk of neck AND fretboard just for that? WHY?

"Hey I think it looks cool! Let's put it on display at the NAMM show..."

Fucking idiot who came up with that one.

Fucking idiot who came up with that one.
First I saw it was on the O.G. MusicMan Wolfgangs and the Peaveys, dunno if it was Ed's idea or one of theirs?
Totally get the functionality aspect of it, yeah - but I'd still rather have to take the neck off (loosen it just enough, whatevs) to adjust it. Hideous.
But then, I dig the way the Charvel fretboards are squared slabs like Gibsons. Hate the way Fender and most round them at the top, looks lame in comparison, IMO.

Anyway - here's some Jon Levin Charvel footage..not seein' a ton of posts from other guitar makers (even Fender and Gibson) yet...will keep looking.

That's funny, how we're discussing doing a Snake job, then they both try to do it - but then blow it and take their practice piece to the show...

Hey Mr Corona PaintFAG watching this thread: you stretched the K-Lathe too much and tweaked it STOPUD!

Yeah, I pretty much disassembled him of ever claiming knowledge of his own ass right in front of his "handler" in the booth.

Actually I feel sorry for them both, he could make more money working at the supermarket on stock crew than strutting that filthy wig and belly around the booth.. but then he wouldn't have a belly. He'd actually have to work lift and move stuff if he worked at the market.. and cut his hair.

Who is he? I will say I've found him a little too "first person" in the interviews I've seen...like he's "Mr. Charvel" or something...? "This year I decided to go with direct-mounted pickups" and stuff like that? Isn't that kind of thing usually decided by committee?

"Look at the flame on this one...."

Hopefully more manufacturers will post pictures, not seeing a ton from anyone other than Charvel-Jackson at the moment...
