MXR Noise Clamp.
Nice! MXR makes a nice product..
I've never had any MXR stuff break and I have some old shit I picked up at pawn shops in the early 80's.
Hows that Noise Clamp work vs a Boss Noise Suppressor? That's what I have, and it works just fine for me. Just curious what the difference is, that's all.
Hmm...not really sure!
Does the NS-2 have a built-in loop? Not that familiar with it...tried one once as a kid (pre-Boogie) and returned it, seemed like it was killing my signal no matter how minimal the setting...the Noise Clamps seems more dynamic-sensitive just comparing the two from memory.
Correction: Was thinking about it on the way home...that was the old MXR Noise Gate I tried...horrid back in the day...worked TOO well, as in attacked your signal like a rabid pit bull...lol

I can't decide....
the Pog2 or the hog???
both, matt!!
A wah-wah. A switchless wah.
Well, my options include a couple of Morley pedals (Maverick, Tremonti and both Vai pedals), CryBaby 95Q, CryBaby Bass Wah... and a Behringer HellBabe (which is basically a 95Q clone).
Or I might just go for an envelope filter...

i think i'm gonna pick up an old DX-7.
I never rated the presets on those at all.
You would be better IMHO getting something like a Roland JV1010 module and hooking it up to a MIDI keyboard.
Could be half the price for something so much cooler especially for rock.
oh, i got modules. got an Alesis QSR in the spring, and got a SD card reader for my Roland S-760. been playing with the soft synths too, there is a good Oberheim clone out now, and i already have the Native Instruments FM8 soft synth. i also picked up a Roland JX-8P off Ebay with a bad keybed, cheap. plays grate MIDIed up. gonna fix the 'board over the winter, when it's too cold to be outside wrenching on Jeeps.
was gonna use the DX-7 more as a controller, i don't need all the transport controls the USB controllers have. the DX-7 doesn't split the board, but i'm not sure i need that for just banging around here. i think the DX-7II does though. or maybe a D-50, i really like the feel of my S-50 but you gotta load a disk in it to do ANYTHING, the OS is on the disk and not in memory. also no split, but it has aftertouch. i'd like to save the wear and tear on the disk drive, i will probably box that one back up and store it somewhere.
i have an M-Audio Axiom controller but i don't really like the action, will probably flip it on Ebay.
okay, if i bought a 7 it would be just to have one after all these years. i still consider buying a Kurzweil 250, even though i know modern software and 'boards shit all over it.
also thought of a small digital piano, more a "stage" version than a piece of furniture. something i can sit down and noodle on through headphones or small powered monitors, without having to turn on a whole rack of shit.
Well it would as you say make a good controller.
It's funny how cheap you can get this stuff now. I had a look and you can get them here for less than $450 and they were $2500 when they came out.
I've only dipped my toe into the world of keyboards as they don't really seem to suit the music we're doing at the moment but I found a second hand Korg M1 which I'm using as the controller MIDI'd up and mixed in with the Roland JV1010 which I got on EBay. In total I paid about $250 for this set up which back in the late 80s would have cost close to 20 times that.
when NIN was still touring, supposedly someone from the organization would hit the local trader's papers (pre-intertubes) and buy up any DX-7's they could find. Reznor says they were indestructible. he managed to break some of them anyways.
i've read the M1 has the same keybed that the DX-7 has.
the broken JX cost me $300 but when it was new they were $1700.
Alright, I just got some good news...the neck for my Kramer should be done and getting it's final inspection before shipping to me tomorrow...and the body for the Charvel neck is also nearing it's final polishing stages...won't be long now...
Update: Spoke to soon, just got a message the body's going to be further delayed....

Bastards!!!
Trolls take heed...LOG OUT & FUCK OFF!!!
OK, went ahead and pulled the Duncans from the Kramer and mounted the set of Porter pickups I won...now just waiting for the neck and the tuners to show up...much like the Strat body...
Hey, I guess this means I have a spare set of Duncans now, too...
Was not expecting it, but the neck showed up today, and it is AMAZING...looks like I'll be getting necks from Boogie Bodies from now on!
What are you going to finish your neck with?
Leaving the sealer on the neck itself, probably Duplicolor black for the headstock, and Jeff from RCA has turned me on to the quick-dry clear that he uses, it's available in aerosol form...debated doing a gold Kramer decal on the headstock, but probably won't logo it, none of my other guitars are branded, don't want to start a disturbing trend...
SWEET
OK, the neck's installed and the rough set-up is done...needed to download a schematic, which I did this morning, so now I can wire it the way I want...but the Kramer is essentially DONE.
A Tobacco Burst Wolfgang Special, since they're also available as leftys...
(Why not give it a shot?)
Did the wiring and set up on the Kramer, it pretty much smokes. There's a pesky intermittent ground-issue to be dealt with, but overall...oh yeah. As for the Porter pickups, they're nice. The "Classic" (A5) neck model is just bright enough w/o being harsh, and the low-medium output "Clear" (ceramic) bridge pu is an interesting beast...through my Boogie's lead channel, while it's still plenty distorted, it eerily reminds me of EVH's US Festival tone...mean, but almost pristine clean. It REALLY makes you work, but responds really well to pick dynamics. Definitely not as hot as I'm used to, but interesting!
In other news, I just heard the KnE body is getting it's final polishing, and is almost ready to be shipped back to me!
Got the word the body was done Thursday, and that Jeff was sending pictures (which he did shortly thereafter). Yes, yes, and YES.
Now I'm sort of debating going with the zebra pickup in the bridge slot based on the black one in his mock-up photos looking so cool... As the great Foghorn Leghorn would say "Fortunately, I say fortunately I always keep a spare..."
Best looking LP I ever played AND the best sounding............
The GARY MOORE model...................
Those are freaking awesome... LOVE Gary Moore LPs.
So in assembling the bomber, I had to decide between the zebra or black Duncan pickup last night...
And while the zebra looks cool enough...
There's something pretty sinister about the "none more black" look. It just seems to yell "F*CK YOU!"
Four (4) Eminence Legend GB12's...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JER!!!
WE MISS YOU BRO!
I did indeed see one of these Marc Boland LPs at a local guitar shop Yest......$5000....wow....bad ass though
