    Are carbon guitars a nono?

I've been offered this guitar for 2000 dollars.
    It's a django model.
The carbon freaks me out..but I haven't played it yet.
I read it resonates like wood but i dunno.
And the combination with such an old model freaks me out.
    Any experts here?

From what I've gathered, these things are created from pretty much the same material that some of my golf clubs are made from. Whether that's good or bad at this point is debatable, as it took nearly a decade for the manufacturers to figure out the properties of the material well enough to make them practical. Seriously, the first clubs I tried out in the eighties were like swinging at a ball with a garden hose.

Believe it or not, like just about everything these days, there is a website devoted to carbon guitars. Perhaps you can find some answers there:

I have no hands on experience, but the Washburn AF-40 Ace Frehley model in the '80s had a carbon neck. From all accounts it sounds like shit and feels like plastic. Seems to me a body made of it would sound thin.

I hope they use this material to make planes,
but for guitars (or any stringed instrument)
I cant imagine a material better than wood ??

Carbon fiber construction is not cheap. Wood would probably be less expensive. At the end of the day, it it sounds and plays good you are half-way there. Looks are the other half and it would be a nice guitar if all that ugly carbon fiber wasn't on it.

Carbon fiber guitars may suck to play, but they're probably excellent in getting hostile audience members off the stage.

Yeah, but there really is nothing quite like the feel of a good, solid piece of wood made by Fender when the job needs to be done. Just ask Keef...

I dont have a problem with carbon bodied guitars, and this one looks like maple neck with spruce top. Great find!

I'm not gonna buy the guitar.I didn't even play on it.I just think it clashes with the antique look of the macferri model.
I ordered one made out of wood.
    have to wait a month.
But this is a cool carbon guitar.
Spacey model..now this i like..kinda parker fly deluxe feel.

True.. but rib-eyes have superior tone over a sirloin...

In the original video on this thread a better demo would have been... the guy cranks out a killer riff... then rolls the hummer over it... plugged in of course on 11... then picks it up and jams still in tune.
