    Being entertained by dead people

I have a guilty pleasure of watching some old TV shows and Columbo remains a favorite. The depressing thing about this is playing the IMDB who is still alive game.

I'm watching one tonight and it's getting ludicrous. Why I should be surprised that actors from a show made nearly 40! years ago might have died I don't know...

It's just the thought that soon I'll be watching stuff completely made up of ghosts...

    "Columbo" Suitable for Framing (1971)

    Directed by
    Hy Averback DEAD

    Jackson Gillis
    Richard Levinson DEAD
    William Link

Kim Hunter ... Edna Matthews DEAD
    Rosanna Huffman ... Tracy O'Connor

Barney Phillips ... Captain Tyler DEAD
    Mary Wickes ... Landlady DEAD
Vic Tayback ... Sam Franklin DEAD

    You think that's bad?

How about pumping it repeatedly to some wild porn star who does it all, and when you get tired of the same scenes you go looking for info on her and she's been dead for quite a while?

It's enough to make you go limp.

    Cheers! :bottle:

    Mine is The Rockford Files...

But what's hilarious is almost everyone you just listed, has been in an episode of TRF.

But then if I happen to see ANY 70's cop/PI/drama 2/3rds of the supporting cast can be seen on every other show..

I swear there were only 2 dozen actors in LA during that period

I was a kid... I sat behind him at a Broadway play... I think it was Dracula with Frank Langella.
I knew him from the 70s TV sitcom 'Alice' I was pretty starstruck.

When I had a tv I really liked watching McHale's Navy.

I just this moment discovered that all but season 1 is on Hulu.com

Actually, I meant Moana Pozzi, or, more recently, Anastasia Blue.

Who the hell is Don Ameche? And how did Sesh know the guy? More importantly, why did you wank furiously watching him?

Actually, never mind the last question.

    I really don't wanna know.

    Cheers! :bottle:

I like old westerns like The Rifleman, Gunsmoke, The Virginian... Plus old cop shows like Kojac, Streets of San Francisco & Hawaii-50.

One of my favorites I haven't seen in reruns for several years is Taxi...

Not to mention half of The Beatles, half of The Who, half of The Knack, and 3/4 of The Ramones are all dead, and yet Sammy Hagar still roams this earth.

There are lots of Taxi reruns still on cable here.

The Taxi people went on to do Cheers and then Frasier.

Movie people get so much credit and fame but those guys have made maybe 250 hours of good to great comedy.

One of the best episodes of TRF ever featured Tom Selleck as this Dudley Do-Right private detective that seemed to be adored by everyone he ever encountered, mainly because he seemed to have saved their lives at one time or another. The chemistry between Selleck (playing Lance something), Rockford and Lieutenant Chapman was priceless.

Lance had a gun strapped to the door of his glove compartment in his convertible, which without fail would open and slam into Rockford's kneecap. Of course, Lance got the millionaire's daughter at the end, while Rockford was asked by the guy "What can I do for your services?" Rockford responded with what we all say in such a situation, "Oh, that's really not necessary...", to which the millionaire says "OK", and walks away, leaving Rockford with nothing.

Have you listened to their albums, or did you just buy into the media "they wanted to be the next Beatles, but they're just a one hit wonder" bullshit?

Fucking brilliant band. And sadly more disrespected than Rodney fucking Dangerfield.

One of the greatest shows ever, IMO. Sadly, I think Jimmy Garner will be the next star to go....

Yeah, he was looking so old on that last TV series he did, "8 simple rules" or whatever it was called. Ironically he survived the show, and John Ritter didn't

Yeah, I hear ya. It's a testament to how good the writing was on that show that I can recall a hilarious sequence from that episode, roughly 35 years after it aired.

Lance and Rockford stumble onto a crime scene, and Lance promptly picks up the phone to call the police. This draws Rockford's ire, as he hates getting involved with active investigations. So when the police arrive, Lance addresses Chapman by saying "Hi, Doug. I used the phone because I didn't think the bad guys used it." Chapman responds "Yeah, you are probably right there, Lancer." Cut to a clearly astounded Jim Garner, who has observed this conversation with a look of sheer incredulous indignation. As they are leaving, Garner says to Lance "Lemme guess, you saved his life too?"

Those aren't porn. Why did Lounge say he was a porn actor?

We ARE aware of Lounge's issues, but this makes absolutely no sense at all.

Speaking of Cheers, I have been watching the reruns of it on WGN on Sunday nights. God damn, that was a funny fucking show.

    Yes. But so was Lounge.

I was talking about porn stars. Female ones.

I really have no idea what happened afterwards.

Only Lounge can help clear this up. Where's the fucker?

    Cheers! :bottle:
