Definitely concur with your thoughts, and those sentiments are exactly why you are one of the longest-standing, respected members of this community. But in all fairness, most webmasters don't have to deal with the amount of shit (and lack of any decent current band news) that this site deals with. We are just as much a temple to CVH and Roth as we are a porn site (I love The Muff Thread), a political site, a gear site, a quasi-bootleg/rarities site, a never-ending ramble of nonsense, and a shitload (and I mean a SHITLOAD) of people who's IQs don't measure up and who, at 30+ years old, don't act their age.
Granted, that's a lot of excuse-making, but I actually think (and maybe this is just marketing spin), and I mean this, that our mods are junior webbies in many ways... between you and the rest of the team, mods have quite a bit of discretion and leeway you don't find on many sites... shit when the four of us were active, you know how many times people came crying to us to mediate bullshit that was of no consequence? Plowing through endless PMs about who said this, who said that, and to whom, etc, etc. Webbie became synonymous with babysitter at one point (not a complaint, hell I spent hours, DAYS on this site at a time and loved and still do every minute of it, just trying to relate some perspective).
Having said ALL that, though, my lack of presence (I don't speak for Sarge, Pojo, or BS1) has been a disservice to the board in general, and to the really awesome members of this community. Hey, we all got older, some of us got married (and divorced and married again), got deployed, had kids, grad school, careers, got drugs, turned 40... you get the idea.
So excuses aside, I can see your line of reasoning and I'm all for it. I think there will always be a place for the "founders" if you will, and to ensure smooth and efficient operations, some newer/active blood might be called for (hell, even Bill Gates gave up the reigns eventually while still being majority shareholder and Chairman).
In a perfect kickoff pre-Summer, I would like to see a redesign launched and the addition of an active webbie or two, some new music from VH, and the Old Boy Club reunite (btw, it's safe to say you ARE part of the Old Boy Club now, mate), maybe a la Skype or chat session to kick things off. Reinvigorate the troops, welcome the new blood, that sort of thing.
Things are picking up, and I'm feeling confident about the DLR Army future...
