Jazz III's are pretty nice. My guitar teacher uses them. Those and standard Fender mediums. Work like a charm.

I've been using the Dunlop Tortex series, in particular the purple 1.4 mm model, for roughly 15 years now. I simply can not say enough about them. For one, the finish is unique in that no matter how sweaty your grip becomes, the pick stays fast to your fingertips. They are durable as heck, which really helps out guys like me who do not so much play the instrument as attempt to bend it to our will. The shape is great for speed picking as well as for chunky chording or riffing, and is very good for clear tones during delicate passages as well.

Look, I'll admit the 1.4 is a very thick pick, so it isn't for everyone. But the gauges range from .50 mm on up to the 1.4 mm, so it is indeed likely there is something available for players of all styles.

I like it when new picks come out, but the reason I stuck with the traditional DeAndrea-made nitro Fender picks is: you can get 'em anywhere.

I used to become so attached to one style of pick or another so much so that the loss of having "that" pick would inhibit my already low skill level.

So by accommodating the pick, instead of the a special ergonomic pick accommodating your lack of skill, I just believe thru personal skill you achieve more by not interrupting the way you hit the string.. which increases your skill in the long run.

That being said my favorite picks were Pick-Boy of Japan, which go in and out of import here in the states.. and my current fave has had broad distribution, the Steve Clayton 1.5mm acetal picks, the last 20 years.

But I do have a couple gross of my custom foil-printed DeAndrea Mediums in my bag. Had those over 25 years now.. nitro picks NEVER go bad. They may shrink over time if exposed but I've kept mine airtight in a lil plastic jar from Oxy pads. Still mint condish..

I don't always use a pick, but when I do, I use a Dunlop 1mm pick. Stay rockin, my friends!!

If I need a pick i'll just steal whatever the Guitarist nearest me is using. usually those red dunlop ones they don't make anymore. I think they're dunlop.
Whatever I'm a bass player. I use my digits 99% of the time.

Works for me. Love the grip. Problem is I always buy the black ones, which are a bitch to see if you drop it on stage. Pretty much the reason I end up doing this...

I love the grip too! That's probably the main reason I use those picks. I sweat a lot, so I still drop my picks every now and then. When I can't find them, I turn on my 1,000 watt lights behind me to help me find it. I even have our guitar player trying to help me find my pics.

I like Jazz III's for speedy alternate picking, but IMO there's not enough there for heavy rhythm playing...

I like 1mm and sometimes 1.25s in the standard shape...occasionally it's fun to practice with a 2.00mm, it's like working out with ankle-weights or something...when you switch back down to a 1mm, look out!

It's white Clayton .80mm for me. I've been playing with those for years. Stiff enough but not too stiff and rough enough to hand onto but not too rough. Dunlops are good too but the ones I like are ugly green.
