I called in tonight to the Eddie Trunk show on XM/ Sirius. I got in at the 8:45 CT slot ending the show where Trunk takes questions and feedback from the listeners. Let me set this up by saying that about a month ago, Trunk had commented that he had tried to get Eddie Van Halen to be a guest on VH1's That Metal Show. VH management advised him that Van Halen "would not be doing any publicity in the forseeable future." I was the first call he took. I reminded him of what he said about trying to get Edward on That Metal Show, and then i asked him if Roth had the same management or if he had tried to get David Lee Roth on That Metal Show? I was going to give a shout out right after that but he went right into the answer, advising that if was funny i had asked this because they had. He went on to say that he wasn't sure about the dynamics of the management team for Van Halen but that Roth had a different contact and representative. Trunk's understanding was the Dave is a big fan of the show and regularly watches it. He also mentioned that his guest host Don Jamison has a positive history with Dave, so it was something they thought might happen. However, they didn't get the response from Roth they thought they would to do the show.
At that point, Trunk paused to give me the time to respond to his answer.
I said:
"Thanks and i want to give a shout out to the ROTH ARMY and ROTH ARMY.COM"
He just said thanks and went on to say that he didn't read anything into Roth not really responding. He said that a lot of bands in their downtime don't individually do any press. (aka - he thinks Van Halen is still together.
The funny thing is, the caller right after me started bitching about no Roth Van Halen concert footage available on dvd. Trunk had to think he was being set up by the Army despite it being pure concidence.
