Gibb ..and Donna Summer .
Disco Icons.
Lot of people don't like disco club music, but as a under age kid looking to get with girls these dance moves and music made me king of, The Hustle.
Sunday closed bars laws in Kansas, the adult dicoteques would open Sunday night to let underage kids by sodas, dance to the big sound, and pay the light bill... was a great time.
BeeGee's was a huge part of some classic music.
Great memories.
RIP

Out of the 3 Gibbs in the Bee Gees.....way back when if you had to pick 2 that looked sick & ready for death which 2 would it have been?
sad. rest in peace.

I actually enjoy the Bee Gees when it comes on the work radio. Very sad. Amazing song writers. RIP

Damn, who would have thought I would get Donna Summer and the Bee Gees (minus Barry) headlining at Studio 666 within the same weekend!

Sad, but not unexpected. Robin had been seriously ill for the last couple years. Hate the disco shit, but their early stuff wasn't that bad.....
whatever you think of their music, you have to feel for poor old Barry Gibb. Fucker had three younger brothers, and had to bury them all.

Love their old stuff. The disco years are a part of my pre-VH youth.
I grew up in a tourist town and started getting served in the disco's when I was 15. Yup, danced to a lot of their stuff...

I grew up listening to all that disco stuff while riding in the car with my parents as a really young child. You never forget that stuff you hear as a child. In fact, I loved that part of the songs that would end up being the bass the most.
Very Sad News.

Can't resist posting the tweet I just discovered:
@AveryEAllen: As much as I hate disco, I'm saddened that two disco legends have recently died while Sammy Hagar still breathes my air.
Sad as hell. Great music.

R.I.P. Robin.......my girlfriend enlightened me with the Bee Gees a few years back......great songwriters....They had two completely different careers.

It's a shame the brothers Gibb got labeled a disco band when they turned out a lot of melodic stuff .
at least in Robin's case he made it out of the coma long enough to have some final moments with his family.

R.I.P. ...
Another great one to go... From cancer, again...
And the list won't stop growing of course, unfortunately. And in the next few years, in addition,
as many of the music stars most of the members here care about were born between the early
1940s and the 1950s.
It seems cancer is cause of death number one, BTW...
Thanks ThrillsNSpills, "Holiday" is the first song that came to my mind.

I'm not sure hulu will be any better but the Youtubes have the shaky camera guy aiming at the TV screen syndrome.

rare video of Gotta Get a Message to You with the abominable vocal at the end where they change keys.
Odd how the vocal part that's off key was edited out for the single version but not the stereo album version.
Great song writer. Very sad but he looked like a dead man walking for quite a while. He was obviously a fighter.

Ironic that Robin wrote all these lyrics about dying way back in the 60's, ain't it? (both the songs above, for example)
Not sure it counts as irony when a person who writes about death dies 45 years later.
