I was down on Lake Erie visiting an old friend of mine a few weeks ago for beers and bbq.
Naturally the party moved to his studio/jam room. Started kickin out some old Rockabilly and then into some low down Blues. I naturally gravitated towards some bottleneck and asked him if I could try out this old thing he had sittin in the corner. So I grab this old beast and plugged it into a Fender Deluxe.
Faaaawk, talk about tone. It had great tone and sustain and was quiet as a mouse.
So after the jam he asked me if I liked it. Naturally it was yes. Told me he'd never heard anyone play it like I did the whole time he's owned it and told me to take it with me when I go home....
I was totally taken off guard. His only condition was that I play it loud and make him proud. Sounded like a fair deal to me.
Here she is. a 19?? National "Dynamic" Lap Steel

Unfortunately it doesn't have legs or a case. I'm on the hunt...
I'm working on dating details right now. I'm figuring it's possibly a late 60's/70's model.
