My neighbor and I got 911 on the line and the family out of the house faster than you can say Sammy Hagar is a Douchenozzle.

Good grief, what caused this, was it errant fireworks? Looks like it went up fairly quickly. Good for you and the neighbor for being on top of things. Nicely done.

After the family watched their legal fireworks go off in the street they sprayed them with water, and the son placed the expended fountains into a plastic bucket on the porch after everyone went inside to watch tv in the basement. The unseen smolder developed into a nightmare that slithered it's way from the front door into the attic rather quickly.

Wow! that is always messed up. the shock of how close should be setting in about now. I am real sorry for your neighbor's loss. And having that sit right across the way from your home is always a shiver up your own spine. Glad everyone was physically OK.

Back when I was a teen, our neighbor's that lived behind us house caught on fire. If it hadn't been for their little dog outside going nuts barking, they would have perished, because of where the fire started they would have been trapped. The husband happened to hear the dog and got out of bed in the middle of the night to check.
I remember my Mom crying like a baby, it was very disturbing to watch, but I was mesmerized.

Since the front door was engulfed in flames we had to get them out through the back door. Watching the children begin to cry when they made it around the corner and saw the flames taking over their home was a tough pill to swallow.

They are all doing alright. The neighborhood and insurance company descended on these folks faster than you can say Sammy Hagar spreads herpes on his knees at the truck stop.

Right on. It is stuff like this, and also the Great Flood of Nashville that restore my faith in human beings. The house is not the worst of it. The worst of it is losing all of your precious family heirlooms and stuff with sentimental value.

                              Glad they got out ok.
