4 Zep albums and only 2 VH?

WTF? I think at least 4 of the 6 should be on there. Intersting that no Hagar shit is on that list also.

Even with 4 albums, they somehow managed to miss Zep's Presence, unarguably the heaviest guitar album they ever released. And where is Steely Dan's Royal Scam? I mean really...Oasis?

I agree with you Chef. And Appetite for Destruction? Great album. I'll say it again - great album. But top 50, and coming in at # 5 no less? No way. That album has been blown out of proportion. It seems like critics want that album to be the shiny bow on the present that ended a genre of music but it just wasn't that important.

Also, good to see Chuck Berry on the list a couple of times. I also think that before you put Oasis, White Stripes and Guns on there you should dig a little deeper for guys like Frank Mareno and M.R.

Actually i see Frank Mareno at #35. Folks in my part of the country would kill me if they saw this, but i don't think Lynryd Skynyrd should be on the list either. If you need 4 guitarists whereas most of the other bands on this list needed 1 or 2, you probably shouldn't be on the greatest album list. Rush is another band i see that didn't get any mention - 2112 should be on there.

It's a nice list they have here though. Glad to see Van Halen's on it at least TWICE, and at the very top, to boot! But I agree-- Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee ripped on the 2112 suite

Don't you know Slash has become one of the greatest guitarists of all time, at least in the top 3 with Zack Wylde?

AFD has sold a fuck of a lot of Gibson guitars over the years...

                          See Nirvana - Nevermind.

To me it's the exact same as Appetite For Destruction. Made out to be some earth shattering, groundbreaking, be all, legendary album.

Back In Black did more for music than both of those albums combined.

.......and another thing, wasn't Nirvana supposed to be anti-guitar! A reaction to the formulated heavy metal guitar solo.

Well at least Nirvana's music WAS totally built around guitar riffs. Call it a "minimalist" approach compared to metal, but the riffs drove the song.

Not sure I'd say that about Oasis, or Cliff Richard & the Shadows (Though Cliff is My disciple). And I'll call Jack White a ridiculously overrated joke every time he shows up on one of these lists. I don't know who he got his "talent" from, but it wasn't Me or My Dad.

I'm honestly surprised that U2 didn't make the list even once. The Edge has one of those guitar sounds that you can recognize instantly, much like Eddie, Page, Keef, Angus & Malcolm, etc. Granted, I'm admittedly biased, since many of their songs are about Me, but that doesn't make it any less true.
