I haven't missed a Dallas Cowboys game in 20 years, not one. I am sure as hell not going to abandon them now. Go Cowboys!

Good for you, man, but I'm pissed as hell at this team right now! They're ranked like 3rd in the league in offense and 4th in defense, yet they sit a 1-4 because they lead the league in penalties and turnovers. And I'm sorry, but Tony Romo isn't a championship caliber qb, and they will NEVER make it back to the Super Bowl as long as he's the team qb. Tony Romo is nothing more than a second rate Danny White that can't handle pressure situations and plays his worst in big games. I believe the team has the players and talent in place to be Super Bowl contenders, but they have a severe lack of discipline, lackluster, third-rate coaches, and a perennial choke artist qb that nearly always commits turnovers when the game is on the line. Dallas needs to shore up their offensive line, find a mentally tough, decent qb, and a coach that can get this team focused and playing up to their full potential and isn't a laid back, Jerry Jones yes-man hand puppet.

First and foremost, fuck the Cowgirls! I despise them almost as much as I despise the WolverQueens.

Second, I think with the right coach, Tony Homo can get the job done. Of course, he might be another Jay Cutler clone. I don't believe personel is the issue with this team. I believe it is Wade Phillips. He is a horrible coach. I hope Jerry Jones keeps him!

I understand your frustration. This team is underachieving big time, and I believe it is Wade Phillips fault totally for the lack of discipline. Where I disagree with you, is Tony Romo. I don't think he is the problem at all. He is definitely the best QB Dallas has had since Aikman. All the QB'S the Boys went through during that period, Clint Stoerner, Anthony Wright, Quincy Carter, Chad Hutchinson, Drew Henson, Vinny Testeverde, Drew Bledsoe, all made me ill. IMHO there really isn't anyone to replace Romo with, so I'm riding the wave and hoping it gets better. No playoffs this year and HOPEFULLY we will get a real head coach and a new offensive coordinator who knows how to use all the talent we have.

Oakland's total beatdown of Denver, yesterday...who in the fuck saw THAT one coming? 59-14? Or the Browns' beatdown of the Saints?

Indeed, if as a player your idea of the promised land is watching the Super Bowl on a big screen tv at Hooters.

After last night, their season is pretty much over, anyway. They should play for draft position for the rest of the year i.e. lose the rest of their games, then draft a stud qb from next years draft class. Hey, you never know, Kitna may end up being better than Romo, and this could be a blessing in disguise. I remember Kitna being a fairly decent quarterback that just played on some rotten teams over the years.

p.s. Super Bowl contenders MY ASS!

Kitna looked like he caught fire in the 4th quarter last night after he shook off two years of rust. That's a pretty tall order being thrown into the game cold after not having played in a regular season game in two years.

Even so, he has more playoff wins (2, I think) than Romo. Still, the Cowboys have so many issues right now that what Little Texan says about playing for the draft makes a great deal of sense.

even if jerry jones sets that in motion, he would die of a compound aneurysm before the end of the season. the upside, maybe we could see it live on a sunday. (not seriously wishing death upon the asshole)

They really are in a shitty position. To play out the string would be unfair to the fans, but at this point there really isn't much to play for other than pride. Then again, the NFC stinks right now, so anything is possible. And hell, the only team with a worse record (San Francisco 1-6) won't even be in the country next week.

however, playing out for pride won't happen. with no/veeeery little chance of the playoffs, whom on that team is gonna step up and play with reckless abandon going into an ofseason with a good chance of not playin' next year, let alone having any binding contracts.

Astute point, friend. The more you look, the more signs there are that a work stoppage is a foregone conclusion.

Oh yeah, you could clearly see the switch shutting off later in the game. It was hard to watch, and I've no love for the Cowboys at all.

According to ESPN, Wade Phillips still hasn't shown up for work this morning. Also, a 4PM(CT) news conference is scheduled.

    Wade Phillips Fired

    Source: ESPN

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones fired coach Wade Phillips on Monday, sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen and Ed Werder.

The move comes less than a year after he was given a two-year contract extension for leading the Cowboys to their first playoff win in over a decade. He will be replaced by offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, the sources said.

The end for Phillips came after a 45-7 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night extended Dallas' losing streak to five games as the Cowboys -- which began the season with Super Bowl expectations -- fell to 1-7 overall.

Phillips ends his time in Dallas with a 35-23 record, having won two NFC East titles and getting the Cowboys' first playoff victory since 1996. Phillips is 83-65 overall as a head coach.

Jones, who had never fired a coach in-season since purchasing the team in 1989, had said multiple times that Phillips would finish out this season. The owner cited research showing interim coaches are not successful and that was a deterrent for him making the change.

But the Cowboys' five-game slide -- during which they've been outscored 179-107 -- has made things difficult for Jones, who even apologized publicly to fans. In two of the games, Phillips questioned the passion of his team and wasn't sure if he lost them.

Yeah, but look who they were playing and where! The game went exactly the way I expected it to go. I told my brother last night before the start of the 2nd quarter when the game was still scoreless that Dallas was going to lose by at least 20 points, and that it was going to be a blowout once the Packers got going. Was I ever on the money! Then this morning I told him I would be VERY surprised if Wade Phillips didn't get fired today. 2 for 2.

Jones had no choice but to make a change after last week and last night. It was obvious from watching the past couple of games that this team had just quit and wasn't even trying anymore. I groaned when Phillips was hired, and thought he should have been fired two seasons ago after they were blown out by the Eagles in the last game of the season. They had quit the last few games of that season as well. Jason Garrett isn't going to be any better, as he sucks ass as an offensive coordinator. Jones needs to clean house after the season, hire a decent coach after the season, and let the new coach bring in his own staff and let him have a major say in the personnel decisions of the team. Another laid back, yes-man, hand puppet hire like Wade Phillips isn't going to cut it. Dallas needs a hard nosed, disciplinarian type coach that won't take any shit from the players and won't accept less than 100% effort.

    HA!

    http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shu...urn=nfl-283761

According to the Dallas Morning News, the team forgot to renew the dallascowboys.com domain, and the site was left blank. The Cowboys' marketing arm, led by one Jerry Jones, Jr., quickly renewed the domain, but that process can take up to two days to go through, and for a website to propagate on a domain - even if it's been there before. The site is up, but up until Tuesday morning, there were people on Twitter reporting that they could still see the "fail" page on certain browsers.
The most alarming aspect of the failure to renew a domain (especially one of this magnitude - only the NFL's official site is a more popular league-approved portal) is the astonishing lack of attention to detail it represents. Domains can be renewed for multiple years at a time, and Network Solutions (or whoever you might establish a domain name with) generally sends multiple e-mail notices as the renewal date draws near to the person listed as the primary website contact. It's a set-it-and-forget-it process that takes about five minutes.
The 1-7 Cowboys team on the field isn't the only one looking for a few wins these days - it's a good bet that the franchise's internet marketing folks have been hearing some unfriendly words this week as well. They're just lucky no rogue Giants, Eagles, or Redskins fans bought the domain and held it hostage, perhaps insisting on Phillips' re-hire as a bargaining chip!

They thought when the season started that they were going to play a home field Super Bowl, and now they are worse than the Browns, Raiders, and Lions! Cowher could probably whip this team into shape and maximize the available talent on the team, but I highly doubt that he will work for someone like Jerry Jones with an ego the size of Texas. I'm pretty sure Cowher will want control of personnel decisions and football operations, and Jerry's ego won't let him take a step back and let someone else make football decisions.

No way it would be Gruden. He's already had to deal with Al Davis.
