The Nashville Network sure didn't. Hell it took them the previous 5 years to recover from the Ched Rocker dedicating "I Can't Drive 55" to "all you tractor driving motherfuckers out there" at the first Farm Aid show.

As much as I hate Hagar, I hate media censorship all that much more, so I thought was funny that the douchebag slipped one by the self appointed moral guardians

I disagree. Granted, TNN wasn't an over-the-airwaves station, being a cable channel. But you still have to question Hagar's nebulous reasoning for acting like a teenager with tourette syndrome. For one thing, the Farm Aid program was televised so people watching the broadcast could contribute money via cash or credit card. So why sabotage that by unleashing a barrage of uncalled for and completely unnecessary profanity upon that audience? For another, this was to be the last performance of the dim-witted rocker's band before he joined VH. Instead of allowing the group an opportunity to shine before a televised audience, he blows things by getting everyone kicked off the broadcast, including Edward Van Halen, the only reason people would be paying attention in the first place.

Hagar's questionable judgment in drawing attention to himself would come to haunt VH in the near future, but if there ever was an event that foreshadowed the embarrassment yet to come, it was this one.

Holy shit, that is astounding! I always thought Moore stole the tune from Greg Allman, but that clip is far more convincing as the source. Hell, even the same ascending connecting riff is used.

I think it's a coincidence, it's a very obvious progression. It's also kind of debatable whether you should be able to have copyright on the solo in a song, especially a blues solo.

It's one thing to "borrow" a riff or two, it's quite another to take an arrangement lock, stock and barrel. Even discounting the guitar figure, the entire progression underneath it was used. I've said it before, using Columbus as an example. You can not claim to have discovered a country, when there are people on the shore waving at your boat as you arrive.

Of course, in this day and age there is no such thing as a virgin birth, but Moore's culpability in "adapting" this song is highly evident. His line of defense (centered around the notion that the German band's music wasn't available in parts of Europe until recently) holds water like a cheese grater, as the music could have been played on the radio, bootlegged or heard at a festival both groups performed at.

I'm just not sure it's a significant enough piece of music in itself, it's virtually just a scale over a common progression.

The saxophone solo in Baker Street, yes, but this one I think is borderline.

Also I think the German guy might be at it because if you listen to his original recording(6:20 onwards) it sounds less like Moore. It seems he's changed it over the years to make it more similar.
