Neil Young lead guitar instructional DVD !

Yes you can pay 24.95 to learn the solo to Cinnamon Girl or you could land on this most important thread !

    Ready kidz, here's lesson 1.

Play the 3rd fret, 2nd string. It's a D note. That's it play that over and over again while you spaz around the stage like Joe Cocker.

That's it childrens. Tomorrow we're gonna teach you the lead break to Down by the River. It's a festive little ditty about driving your woman far away to shoot her. I guess she should have been on his side. Don't blame him though he had a fever when he wrote it.
Ok Ok stop complaining I know you're impatient.
Find the second to lowest E note on the guitar. That's it.
Now play it over and over again. For 3 minutes. There's some F #'s and G's but do you really want to play a song about being dragged over the rainbow and then shooting yer babeh? I don't think so.

I think the lead break in "Cinnamon Girl" is one of the best guitar solos ever. Yeah, it speaks with an economy of notes (or note), but it sure as hell is more expressive than what was offered by some of those boneheaded shredders that showed up a decade later, who seemed to solo as if they believed they were being paid by the note, regardless if the work fit the context of the song they were cramming it into.

Actually, I'll take a Neil Young solo over a Ted Nugent one ANY DAY...
At least Neil sounds as if he's INTENTIONALLY trying to sound like cats fighting, unlike Ted...

    no question.
Feeling always trumps non-feeling, and Neil put his energy into 3 part harmony and other methods to get his point across.

I hate Neil Young. Over rated. Just thought I'd say it out loud.
