I'm reading Dave's book again, as it is always near my bed that I can go through some chapters from time to time. now I'm close to finish it all the way through again. makes perfect sense. and one thing is clear...one day it will be over and dave will most likely be the last man standing...and THEN he will tell...I'm not holding my breath if the sisters get their shit together to produce a new record...but I'm holding my breath to get the rest of the drama...

I agree. I used to get excited about these updates, then fast forward 4 or 5 years later and we are at the same point. I've lost interest. If it ever happens, I'll probably get excited. Just not excited right now.

Sounds like Van Halen is going the Aerosmith route. If we skip over their Ted Templeman produced flop Done With Mirrors, Aerosmith went with a pop rock producer - Bruce Fairbarin (Bon Jovi, Alanis Morrissette) and had lots of hits: Dude, Angel, Rag Doll all from Permanent Vacation album alone. It put Aerosmith back on map although they got addicted to hits and started churning out an unhealthy amount of power ballads.

Well, considering that they are going with a more pop-oriented producer, I would expect the new album to still be hard rock VH -- but more 1984 than Van Halen 1.

Which is not a bad thing. Roth has the ability to make pop rock songs brim with the old VH attitude.
