Bob Feller--The Greatest Player to ever wear a Cleveland Indians jersey--Dies at 92

It's a sad day to be an Indians fan.

Here's to you Mr. Feller...there were none better than you...as a pitcher, and as an American.

The All-Time starting rotation above just got a whole lot better tonight...

    RIP...

Gate C at the Jake, where the Bob Feller statue stands, has been wrapped in banners showing Feller's stats and highlights of his life. for once, the Dolans do something right.

You know...what really fucking pisses me off?

Here's Feller...not just a great, but perhaps the greatest righty to ever step on a mound...and fucking icon...who was an ambassador to the game for 75 years...75 FUCKING YEARS!

I've met Feller four times...once at a Tribe game...once at an Erie Seawolves game...once at an Erie Cardinals game, and once at spring training. He was everywhere. I saw him at winter caravans and opening days...

...and the guy told it like it was. Why? He was great, and he understood what it took to be great...

Strasberg? "Give me a call when he wins 100 games..."

He was clocked on rudimentary "guns" at 104 and 107 MPH. Now, while I doubt he threw that hard, he certainly could hit triple digits. Don't believe me? Look at the pitching stats during his heydey...in a hitters era...nobody was doing what he was doing...not until Koufax...and Koufax is a fucking crazy recluse.

      What's my point?

George Steinbrenner...who was fucking suspended from the game not once..BUT TWICE...died earlier this year...and was a fucking headline for over a week.

Feller? He was on ESPN less than a day...and was a sidenote on the MLB page the next...

      Wow...

Hey POJO - one of the good sports reporters up here in Seattle wrote a really good piece about Feller. So while ESPN and MLB in general may not have given him the attention he deserves, no doubt due to the east coast bias, I thought it was cool that one of our local guys stepped up. Here's a link.

There's a lot of good stuff out there...

Here's my little article on the topic...

My great uncle crossed paths with him during WWII. Always spoke about him with great reverence. He gave my a Feller signed baseball when I was about 10. I still have it.
