Tattoo-Gate--5 tOSU players suspended for the first five games of NEXT year?

It appears as though several Ohio State football players traded autographs for tattoo's, and are now being investigated by Ohio State for potential improper benefits...

The University is trying to handle it before the NCAA gets their hands on this.

    What a fucking joke...

Why is it a joke? It is against the rules.

How many of the implicated are white?

The ONLY reason I hope this gets pushed off until after the Bowl, is because I want Arkansas to kill OSU without OSU having any excuses. I want the entire team at the Bowl game. (Even though I think Pryor is the most overrated "quarterback" ever.)

Seriously...between tOSU and Michigan, how many diplomas go out to either team...it can't be many. Hell, I'm sure most major conference teams are in the same boat....

It appears as though five Ohio State players...Terrelle Pryor, Boom Herron, Devier Posey, and Mike Adams are the four starters out for five games next season for trading university stuff for tattoos in 2009.

Oh joy...of course...they can make the NCAA money in the bowl game...

Terrelle Pryor's legacy? No national titles, no heisman trophies...and a five game suspension his senior year.

As part of their reinstatement, Adams must repay $1,000 for selling his 2008 Big Ten championship ring and Herron must repay $1,150 for selling his football jersey, pants and shoes for $1,000 and receiving discounted services worth $150.

Posey must repay $1,250 for selling his 2008 Big Ten championship ring for $1,200 and receiving discounted services worth $50, while Pryor must repay $2,500 for selling his 2008 Big Ten championship ring, a 2009 Fiesta Bowl sportsmanship award and his 2008 Gold Pants, a gift from the university.

Solomon must repay $1,505 for selling his 2008 Big Ten championship ring for $1,000, his 2008 Gold Pants for $350 and receiving discounted services worth $155.

I think it's all kinda dumb. This time is the highlight of 95% of these guys lives. Most will go on to crappy low paying jobs where they aren't popular or the big man on campus anymore. Let them enjoy some perks for making the university & networks millions. It just seems so hypocritical that the universities are so strict about the players getting anything "extra" while they reap huge benefits.

At least these guys got something that will last a lifetime by getting tattoos. I wonder if the uproar would be as bad if the tattoos they received were of the university logo.

look, again, the NCAA REFUSES to look at the issue at hand here.

    PAY. THE. DAMN. KIDS.

Most these that are getting in trouble, your reggie bush's and terrelle pryor's are dirt fucking poor and have a shit family life. You approach them with "Hey I will pay you 1k to 3k in cash for a signed jersey" or "hey I'll buy you and your family a house, if you promise to attend my university", of course they are going to take it.

Of course the NCAA is ran by pieces of shit, little do they realize, that these kids don't have time to work, and have commitment to athletics and school first. Hell, I've been a HS football player and for about 5 months out of the year it takes up all of your time, and being a college student, most nights I stayed up focusing on my studies. Also, these atheletes are helping the NCAA rake in BILLIONS for their on-field preformance, via it be through merchandising or on TV, and the people that have made that possible, have not seen a single damn dime.

Seriously, I know every stupid sports writer in the country is fist-shaking at the idea of the NCAA being investigated and forced to institute various methods by the US Gov't, but enough is fucking enough!
Still waiting for a relevant Browns Team

"if this was Ryan Mallett at Arkansas, he'd have been suspended, because the NCAA favors the big ten and pac 10"

GO EAT A DICK YOU FUCKING SEC LOVING FAGGOT.

Seriously, what the fuck is this guys problem? did TOSU in the late 70's kick Pitt's ass or something? Really, really think the guy is completely no-nothing when it comes to college football, really think he should be ran over by a bus.

It's interesting to note that the suspension is for 5 games. If it had been for six, the players would have missed the Nebraska game. You don't suppose...

If only these students would have used their parents as deal brokers, then everything would have been fine, right Cameron Newton?

I guess the NCAA has gone communist. There is no such thing as private property or the right to sell it. You know, private property like championship rings. Now they are acting like they own everything the players do. Welcome back to the plantation boys. The plantation owns your ass and wants all the fruits of your labor for themselves.

So- if a student owns a vehicle that was given to them by a family member, they aren't permitted to sell it? These rules are shady.

If what these guys did was blalantly against the rules, they should be suspended for the Sugar Bowl. I haven't noticed ANYONE on the Bret Favre Network- er, ESPN, call the NCAA out on how these kids are used by the NCAA to make TONS of money.

Now Jim Tressell has stated that in order for the players in question to play in the Sugar Bowl, they had to PLEDGE to return for next season, otherwise serve the suspension immediately. Nice move.

The guys on Pardon The Interruption and Around The Horn were up in arms about it last week, blasting the hypocrisy of the NCAA. Both shows are off the air this week because of bowl games.
