The net worth of the members of Van Halen

    http://www.celebritynetworth.com/cat...stars/page/22/

    Roth is worth $40,000,000

Ed and Alex average around $80,000,000 each

Sadly Sammy is the richest at $120,000,000

Gene Simmons in comparison is worth $300,000,000 so selling all that KISS shit pays off.

40 mil, is nothing to sneeze at.

Cuntsidering Spambo made 80+ mil off the sale of that shitty booze company and probably 30 mil. off his bar revenue over the past 25 years, that brings his wealth from the music industry to 20 million.......

I don't think he will have made that from bar revenue.

I've seen that site before, and I question it's accuracy. Mike is supposedly the richest out of all of them due to wise investments through the years. He just sold his house in home town Glendora, California for a cool 2.2 million awhile back. Add that to the kitty.

Not a great deal of privacy, either.

Then again, I guess everyone will need a fish tank in their kitchen someday.

Not the revenue from the actual bar in Cabo San Lucas, but the entire Cabo Wabo name. I think there is one in Lake Tahoe and 1 somewhere else as well. The name is worth a lot.

As for Ed & Alex being worth double what Dave is, it isn't because they were much more successful after he left. I think they just roll off their last name & get a lot of revenue from gear whoring. Plus they screw anyone else out of royalty % when they can.

Michael Anthony has to be the lowest of the bunch. Curious what his worth is. I wonder how much annually the 4 get just from the 6-pack.

Yeah, yet aren't salt water tanks a bitch to maintain? Having one in a cabinet like that (with the access from above) can't be all that convenient.

When they renegotiated their deal with Warners they all got twice as much as Roth including the bass player for royalties from the 6 pack. A lot of that extra 40 million will come from the royalties of people buying their CD versions of the Roth albums. MA is probably worth more than Roth although Dave will catch up quick if they keep doing these tours...

    I don't believe that website.

How could John Petrucci possibly be worth $32 million from 2 gold albums in 20 years plus the G3 stuff?????

It has Dave Mustaine at $20 million. (seems extremely low)

    James Hetfield at $175 million.
    Lars Ulrich at $175 million.

    Kirk Hammet at $70 million.

Good thing it's in Southern California, because it would cost him a million dollars every year just to keep the heat on in that room, if it was in a state that had a cold winter. I'm all for natural lighting, but having all windows and no walls, is just a bit much.

Many many albums, live albums, dvd's, gear whoring, TONS of touring, merchandising, movie soundtracks, etc...

Normally I would say $20 million is a lot, but when Dee Snider is also worth $20 million it makes me wonder about the accuracy of this site.

Who knows what the accuracy is. A lot of it is appraised value and you don't know what it's worth until you sell. As far as musicians go the money is in publishing so who writes the songs makes more. I think in the early days of VH they split the money four equal ways and then when the guys got married and divorced that changed. I think Alex had a lot to do with it. Also, automatically subtract half on what they make on a sale because the government gets that. You don't get away with tax invasion until you are a multinational corporation, a politician, or a connected billionaire who has bought off enough politicians.

Why would EVH and AVH be worth the same?? Wouldn't EVH be worth a boat load more due to gear sales?? Did he split that with Al too?

Also, automatically subtract half on what they make on a sale because the government gets that. You don't get away with tax invasion until you are a multinational corporation, a politician, or a connected billionaire who has bought off enough politicians.

    Question:

Sammy got $80 million from selling that 80% stake in the tequila. That's an immediate $40 million paid in taxes (probably more, but we'll use 1/2 for ease)

So...if that same year he performs charity / free shows / gives back to the fans, can he write those off and claim as a deduction on his taxes to try & recoup a chunk of that $40 mill tax bill?

We do see a lot of rock stars doing charity stuff or freebies to the fans. Some of these guys are generally good guys & I believe they truly want to help less fortunate people or "give back to the fans". But some guys I think WTF? But when looking at these numbers I can really see why they would "give back" to the fans if they can write it off as a deduction.

Cabo Wabo shows are always free. And they pack the house for that period in October. The bar probably rakes in dough from booze & merchandise and Sammy gets to write off the performances. As well as Mike & maybe the other rock stars that come down & jam a few songs.

I had one year where I won a large amount gambling. I'll tell you, that year we made so many fucking trips to the salvation army & Goodwill to donate shit that it was almost every weekend we had a truck load of junk. At tax time I had a stack of donation receipts to claim. And you get to value the items worth yourself, with no proof. So yeah, it's easy to say a $100 table was really worth $250. If you fudge too high it raises the red flag. But if you are subtle you can inflate a little here & there. Saved a bundle of tax owed on that gambling win.

Just a thought. So now when you see a rock star saying "we just wanted to give back to the fans" you will know maybe why they are really doing it.

Keep in mind, like in the case of Michael Anthony....that $2 million dollar home has an annual property tax liability of at least $50,000 minimum, probably more since in CA. He owned it 20 years so he plunked down close to a million just in the property taxes alone. Depending on the school, water, sewer district he is in it could be a lot more. Then you add the insurance which will run for a house like that at least another $25k annually if he has all his goodies, collectibles, classic cars, instruments covered as well. Then multiple cars, registrations, insurances, kids, etc, etc, etc...... Plus the income taxes on that money, manager, promoter, publicist...................

I can see Michael Anthony, even if he were extremely frugal, spending half million a year just to maintain his lifestyle. Easy. Now you imagine someone with a much higher profile & lifestyle like a Gene Simmons or Ozzy. Sheesh...the annual upkeep for them has to be outrageous.

Easy to see how celebrities can go bankrupt. Imagine having 3-5 houses like many do and paying all the taxes & upkeep on that shit. Mike Tyson was spending like $25k per month just on yard work.

    Mo money, mo problems.

Ed doesn't sell that much gear... it's a tiny market for his over-priced crap. Plus he only gets a percentage from the manufacters and licensing fees for his stupid stripes.

I highly doubt that web site is anywhere near accurate. The VH's and Roth needed the 07/08 tour badly to restock their bank accounts.

Eddie would be worth a sizable chunk more had he said "Hey Michael Jackson, I want to be given partial credit & royalties on this little song we are recording".

Naturally, the song itself is credited solely to Michael Jackson as songwriter, but I always wondered how much Steve Lukather pocketed from that session. After all, he played guitar, bass and reportedly had a hand in the arrangement.

Straight union scale, maybe.........paid a flat fee for his involvement. It's widely done in country music where someone will write a song and the artist who records it or their record company, etc, will pay for the rights to the song up front or they are "for hire" meaning anything they do/write is the sole property of their "employer".

At least from what I remember from researching copyrights back in my band days..........
