Here's my next purchase...
I've been doing quite a bit of comparing and the Voice Channel is an amazing bargain...

You need less gadgets, and more practice.
Don't you have anything left to stripe up ??
When a striped up dog ends up on the national news and PETA and The Humane Society are after who did it, we will know who's responsible.
No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!
It's actually a tube driven, single channel strip with a class A preamp, as you would find on an expensive console...
But that One thing you purchased seems very handy and the reviews are spectacular...
nice.. tube is the way to go, no doubt.. I think you use GarageBand? - have you considered moving up to Logic? The sound quality is superior and the learning curve isn't that bad.. You'd get the most out of that pre-amp, that's for sure.
I really have no complaints with the One so far.. I think the sound on the vocal is very good for being recorded in my living room, with a built-in mic running directly into my iMac.. We're going to A/B the internal mic vs a Sure SM58 running through it this weekend... that should be fun.
Do you have the mic stand adapter ??
I read that is a must...
And as soon as I upgrade my operating system and RAM I'll be switching to Logic...
Yeah, got the mic stand adapter and the long USB cable. It's a great little set-up.
I'm using Logic 9 Express. I find it's plenty for my needs. Logic X looks pretty sweet with only minor changes from 9 from what I've read. I can hook you up with a copy of 9 if you want to give it a go.

Sure...
I've been looking it over and I like what I see so far...
That would be awesome...
Very cool...
That's gonna work out perfect...
I've got a few new tunes to get recorded and it's all coming together...
Sweet ax VAiN. The color looks great! Is there a lot of birdseye on the back of the neck too?
Maybe after I improve my playing a bunch more I'll step up from the wannabe SBMM AX3 I have now to an AX30D/40D or a Axis/SS. Me likey the look and proportions of EBMM's! Ed and EBMM really created an iconic style there.
Ed had little to do with the style...
And don't forget the D-tuna Floyd...
Ya learn something every day...
First quickie test clip done with the MJ-wound pickup...
And here's the latest piece I did for Duncan about the new Schecters for 2014.
Good lord, that's some serious shredding going on in that clip! Are you happy with the pick-up? Sounds good to my ears..
Also - have you ever played an 8-string? What's that like? I feel like I'd be totally lost on one of those...
Thanks. It was late, and there's a couple of clunkers, but it turned out OK. I really like that pickup, think I'm going to ask MJ to wind at least one more for me. Like the 59/Custom, it's a little too "woody" sounding for extreme metal, but for everything else it sounds fantastic.
I haven't tried an 8-string yet, was just starting to find my way around on 7-strings, FFS. But I'm interested to check one out. My buddy at the Schecter Custom Shop liked the piece so much he invited me up for a factory tour, so I'll try one and let you know.
Fuck off, redneck.
Test # 2 first one to use a new amp emulation software called Grind Machine I ( note, not Elbow, btw) was recently asked to test and review:
It seems that the one thing you can say about Schecters is that they always sound good. They don't cut corners on pickups. The best sounding bass our bass player has is a Schecter and I find that the Schecter V thing I got for just $500 with the SD Custom Custom pickups sounds amazing.
Just last night I had it and an EVH Special thing with Dimarzios and a brass block in a rehearsal room going into a JCM 2000 and the Schecter sounded better.
That said it's light, unbalanced and not the nicest neck. Great value though I recommend them...
Schecters are very nice for the money and they look nice and clean, but they always feel cheap when I pick one up...
I bet you say that to all the girls...
I know what you mean though.
There is something about the V thing though. I've played half a dozen guitars at gigs recently and it's been the only one admired by people.
The thing about playing rock stuff live is that at least a third of your audience plays guitar. The average guitarist is a fucking prick who always thinks they are better than the guy they are watching. X10 if their girlfriend likes the band.
In that environment part of me always thought it was cool to use quite cheap guitars. You turn up with a $3k Les Paul maybe they like you less?
I've started using this Schecter thing about half the time. It is more difficult than playing one of my nicer guitars but that becomes part of the show to me.
I should clarify that I don't have a $3k Les Paul....
I'm a Strat guy. I have a three bolt 72 that's my favorite. Strats are kind of like blue jeans. The more worn and beat up they become the cooler they become. You always seem to have your favorite pair you just don't want to part with either.
The old Gibsons are cool but the only ones I like to play are SG's and 335's.
Hardy Har. That was HeadCase FX on one GM track and one of the built-in Pro Tools delay plugins on another, with a dry track up the center. The 3 instances of Grind Machine barely taxed 18% of the CPU before adding effects, that's kind of unheard of consumption-wise, so that's cool. There are 10 heads and cabinets to choose from at the moment, but they're way noisy (much like a real high-gain amp). They're adding more amp heads soon, and at my suggestion are (thankfully) adding a built-in noise gate in the first update, so that'll be cool...
I'm about to buy an EVH 5150 III 50W amp so that I can take it to gigs in a taxi cab.
The cheapest I can find them here is $1340 which is annoying as they seem to be a hell of a lot cheaper in the US.
Anyhoo here is the question - is this the best option or is there any other compact head that would be better?
Thanks I will investigate.
