My rig is really kind of simple. The main head is 100 watt Nady. It sits on the floor behind the Marshall cabinet. I would place it on top of the Marshall cabinet but it makes the combo amp unstable on top to due the height. So the combo amp on top of the Marshall cabinet just simply makes it look bigger. It is a “live” combo amp used for back-up on the fly. On the back of the Marshall combo amp both speaker connectors are unplugged. They are run into a Behringer AB200 Dual A/B Switch Pedal and it sits on top of the Nady head. The Nady head runs into the same switch. The Behringer runs into the Marshall stereo cabinet. 8 Ohms. The speakers break up nicely this way and provide a pretty close KISS tone.
The Nady head runs a clean channel and I run the guitar through a Boss DS 1 distortion pedal that adds a little bite and it’s also always on. This allows me to switch heads on the fly and I keep the volume low on the combo head so I don’t get a big “click” if I need to kick it on and turn it up as need be.
That’s really it. I have a wireless so I can move around. It’s a Sampson 77 concert wireless I think and I like this because I have broken two of the “bug” transmitters. The pack is actually taped to a leather belt that I wear.
The main guitar that I use for this is a Sovereign Pro Paul Stanley model. It has Grover tuners and a bound neck that plays pretty well for rhythm and its neck through the body. And I really only use the rear pickup which is a Dimarzio super distortion. It’s pretty hard to knock it out of tune and it has had some work done on it. Strap lock, new nut, tail piece and that’s just from use.
The picture of the show that you see is from a Disney resort hotel. And their sound system was incredible as I’m sure you can well imagine. They had the best monitors and monitors to the side that you couldn’t see it gave us a nice side wash.
Your rig or rigs are probably twice as nice, better put together, and probably have less noise! LOL. But for this simple gig I really have to KISS (keep it simple Stanley)
You can fire away on my equipment and that's OK. If you have better ideas it would be cool to hear them but I'm not getting rich from the trib act. heh

I've mentioned this before, somewhere around here. I use the BOSS SD-1 as well, but to tell ya the truth, the BOSS ODB-3 Bass OverDrive unit is much more effective. For one thing, it includes an equalizer feature not available on the guitar pedal. It is also a heck of a lot muddier in tone, which sounds amazing when you crank it up on Sabbath tunes. It's pure sludge, but remarkably punchy. For the type of music your band plays, it would be a perfect fit for some of those heavier KISS tunes.

Nah, wouldn't do that. If you're satisfied with the tone your rig produces, that's cool. My point was/is you (still) don't have room to criticize my or anyone else's playing as you repeatedly have in other forums.
If you have better ideas it would be cool to hear them but I'm not getting rich from the trib act. heh
OK, here's a suggestion: Go to Home Depot and get the materials to build a couple of dummy stacks. Not very expensive, or even heavy to lug around, and would vastly improve the stage presentation...especially that of a KISS tribute, where a visible combo amp onstage is kinda... blasphemous.
You should still post an MP3 of something that isn't a Kiss cover, though.

You can't get the white plastic Marshall logos at Home Depot.

no, but you can source them. i knew a bloke (non muso) surname of marshall who built himself a marshall letterbox... way cool.

OK, let's not be advocating theft here, that's lame. The logos are inexpensive and available for sale at Guitar Center.
took the words right outta my mouth, j.
from memory they're not very expensive.

Here's a link to an article on Floyd Rose set-ups I did for Seymour Duncan:
http://www.seymourduncan.com/blog/ti...ur-floyd-rose/
I also was asked to interview a young Irish shredder named Sarah Michelle...

Good stuff , and it's cool to see a young lass playing , my daughter has started and they need more female role models ... I know there are some out there but more wouldn't be a bad thing ...
Any hoo cool work and it's always good to see our people doing well and making a living when it comes to music

Yes. And clue your daughter in to Orianthi, if you have not already. The former Michael Jackson guitarist is now the lead guitarist in Alice Cooper's band and is a totally smoking hot badass on guitar!

Hey Jay, cool articles. I have never owned a Floyd Rose guitar. I have 3 Kahler Pro's though. Did not intend on having one over the other. Just that my 2 JB Player neck-thru Strats had the shitty Korean copies made out of crappy potting steel. They both broke, and so I had to get replacements....the real deal.
Then my best friend bought a Fender Lead I brand new in 1980 and had a Kahler Pro put on it. By 1988 he had fallen on hard times, had sold it to some guy who never finished paying it off.
Then in 1997 I walked into a pawnshop and they had it on the workbench with it's guts all hanging out. They said the pickup was messed up or some crap. I knew the manager of the pawn shop. I offered him $175 as it was. Told him he did not even need to put it back together. He said yes. So I have 3 Kahler Pros, lol.
Thing is, I think they are better for me to have anyway. As I tend to beat the living shit out of my strings when I play, and the Kahler Pros are not as easily knocked out of tune as Floyds can be. Note I said "can" be, lol.
Thanks. Btw, if you set a Floyd up correctly, it will NOT go out of tune unless the neck shifts...
Question for the expert.
I recently put my Ibanez RG 550 in for a professional set up. It's an old Japanese made one and a decent guitar but there were a few bits and pieces I wanted tidying up.
Anyhoo it came back restrung with the ball ends still on and at the tuner end. This seems odd to me but the guy in the shop said it was their standard practice on FR trems.
I've since restrung the guitar myself and did it their way but whereas it never went out of tune ever before I feel like I'm now having to make minor adjustments.
My imagination? What's your thoughts guru...?

Yeah I'm going back to doing it that way too.
In other news, another set of Duncans to be reviewed on the way...
EDIT: Just got word another article was published as well!

Probably your iPhone display... all the lettering looks uniform online.
Just that one word is like size 1 font and also italicized...
I thought you did it on purpose but I couldn't see a reason for even you, the bold, italic, underlining taco king...
Here's the review of the 59/Custom Hybrid and the STK-S7 I put in the Bomber guitar (which Duncan themselves described as "enviably awesome").

How funny is that... Duncan says you should envy_my guitar...

M'kay, getting prepped to do the JB/STK-S6 test in the Koa Warmoth...
I'm gonna put the Ti-blocked Floyd back on it too, because even though the Copper one's been on there for a few months and I like it, I'm still more used to hearing it (and more interested to hear the difference from the old CC/STK-S1N set) with the Ti block.
Hope this works,

Hey everyone, just posting another song of my bands which we just released yesterday if anyone would like to check it out (I'm the drummer). Sort of difficult to explain the genre, like a modern version of classic hard rock/metal with a hint of the theatricality of orchestral and the melodic feel of jazz with groove hahaha. But the guitar solo and tone are both very Eddie influenced. Also I produced/engineered the audio and video. Feedback is very welcome!
Here it is, hope you like it

That's really interesting and cool bro, is that minnamurra falls?
Cheers man! Lesmurdie falls in Western Australia
I dig it. You guys should tour here, but the flavour here is more the metalcore thing. Parkway Drive are from Byron Bay, just near where I live.
Sweet! One day, one day! Same as Perth, everyones in the metalcore phase. That's why I'm taking my chances with the internet and trying to expose our music that way. Seems to be getting there! We play gigs as well but it's kind of difficult finding good venues to play at in Perth that accomodates our music. But spread the word and hopefully one day we will get to tour the country and maybe even the world!

Here's an article on assembling pedal boards that could fit within TSA-travel restrictions for checked bags and could conceivably do road-work. Alex Grossi of Quiet Riot contributed a pic of his board...

Here's my band playing some Motorhead in Cumbernauld last week.
Me on Bass.
