In the last week or so performance seems to be taking a dive. Seems a lot of CST mornings the site loads and the first thread loads ok. Then navigating to another thread the host server times out causing my system to think there's a Internet connection failure.
Definately not on this end... I can load web pages anywhere else, quick and fast. But the Army hosting is the only place slow as heck and timing out.
I'm just sayin...

I was under the impression that this board was to be used as a temporary one until some bugs could be worked out on the new one....it was but then it got deleted.
There's nothing any of us can do, with the exception of Sarge... It's remotely possible Pojo could check on some stuff, but I don't think he has the "keys" in order to speed things up....

I told you how to do that....Open notepad.....write down all of your schwill......copy and cut and paste it to your post. Then you can still type fast and post...and if the board craps out.....no harm no foul.

I remember having to walk to the record store (yes, record store) ten miles in freezing rain (up-hill, both ways) in order to purchase and later play my Van Halen LPs on a phonograph built from an old Estes rocket kit, using a pocket knife for a needle and my catcher's mitt for the speaker. Soon enough, the cassette player was invented, and people could then share the actual music they enjoyed, rather than having to hum examples to their friends. It was the dawn of social networking, a pox upon the planet that has lead to increased divorce rates and sadness world wide ever since. A funny thing happened over the years, however. As I got older, I started to realize that I didn't know shit from shinola, and more than likely never would. It's fucking weird, the older you get, the less you know and the more you are comfortable with admitting it. The only thing I can say to those younger folks currently so arrogantly confident with their grasp of things is this...may you live long enough to find out for yourselves.

I have had a lot of problems with the board lately as well. Though seems to me in my case it is usually when I am using Chrome. If I switch to Firefox, everything seems to be ok again.
Seems I am always blaming Chrome, lol. But in this case, if I use Chrome, I can't navigate or post. Seems like the fucker just times out. Like Zah said....

You tune in your local "Album Rock" FM radio station or Top 40's AM if you didn't have FM rock yet... tilt the built in microphone against the speaker of your parents AM/FM/Console Color TV and lay around for hours with your finger on the Pause button waiting for the station to play the latest hit. Once you got it to tape then play, stop, rewind, play over and over until you figured out how to play the song.
Took me and a buddy 3 days to figure out how to play Stairway to Heaven the week it was released using the old cassette player method. We were rock gods at high school parties back then...

There's no way server costs are in the 3 figures a month for this place (read that in another thread) and since the new layout took awhile to incorporate and was taken down rather quickly and that was quite awhile ago with no new layout since. IMO asking for donations isn't exactly the right thing to do.

What usually killed this would be after waiting for 4-5 hours for the one song you wanted to hear (there wasn't really a "rotation" of the same 8 songs every hour back then) would be the stupid DJ, who most likely got his start on AM radio would start rambling some nonsense over the instrumental opening up to the "post", where the vocals would start. Then he'd come back as the song fades, babbling more crap and again throwing in the station's call letters. So you'd repeat the entire drill for several days, until you had a version with the least amount of chatter stepping all over the tune you were trying to record.
The opposite of this was a character named Lee "Baby" Sims, a stoned degenerate that would often ramble in drug-induced stream of consciousness raps for up to 20 minutes at a time. During his 3 hour shift, you were lucky if the moron played 5 songs.
