    Eurotubes.com - awesome!

Have you all heard about eurotubes.com? I found them by following some NAMM links. It turns out that they offer complete retubing kits for just about any amp...
Long story shot- I emailed them a handful of questions about a few sets and asked for their advice/recommendation. They mailed me back well before 24 hours with a fantastic and really thorogh reply. Based on their recommendations I made up my mind. Here's what I ended up ordering for my stock 5150 half stack...

Integrated KT66-6L6GC High Gain Option for STOCK 5150's and 6505's
    Price: $184.50
Description: Looking for more gain and a little British flair for your 5150 or 6505? This kit is for 5150 players who have to have more gain and want to use an Integrated quad without a bias mod. Two KT66's, 2 6L6's & 4 hand picked high gain ECC83S's for V1 thru V4 with one high gain balanced for V5. This tube kit is for STOCK 5150 and 6505 heads with no bias mod. The KT66's have a great open mid range tone that crunches up quicker than 6L6's but stays tight and full in the low end so the combination sounds great.

Just though I'd share that. It's rare that a company actually makes me want to give them my business. I can't wait to get these, plug them in and give it a go!

Changing preamp tubes in 5150 amps makes a big difference in the tone. Not so much with the power tubes. 5150 amps actually sound better with the power tubes drawing less current and unless you are running your power tubes hot and clipping them, you don't notice much tone wise.

I tried running my 5150 power section hot and ended up putting it back to the factory setting. What's nice is your power tubes will last longer and all your have to do to retube is just plug in a new matched set. One thing I can say is the 5150 amps are very reliable gigging amps and more versatile than people think. You need a good speaker cab and good preamp tubes and once you have everything matched and running right, you will have a great sounding reliable rig.

I like eurotubes, to me they are fast, friendly and knowledgable. There are a lot of people around the interweb that hate them, but you find that with everything. I've bought several sets of tubes from them with no issues and great prices. My next purchase will be the 6ca7s. I recently got the JJ EL34L to see what the fuss was about vs. the EL34. It does have a little more bottom and sizzle.

Same here, they totally blew me away with how quickly they replied to my inquiry and answered all of my questions. They seem like a good bunch there. What kind of amp will you be putting the 6CA7's in? I asked if they would be good in the 5150 and was advised against it.

I've got the new 6534+, it would be a straight drop in for the EL34
