    New line of MXR pedals.... Custom Badass '78 Distortion

    Here are some interesting offerings from MXR this year.......

    I'm not big into distortion pedals, but I'm curious what this one sounds like. Cool look with metallic red paint. Wonder what '78 refers to???

    * A hot-rodded classic circuit.
    * Roars with huge amp stack tones and old school distortion.
    * Delivers soaring leads and rich, saturated rhythms.
    * CRUNCH button boosts harmonic content of distortion.

    This looks intersting too. I don't need a gate, but just something to tame the hiss. I'm looking at the ISP Decimator, but would also look at this.

    * Eliminates hiss and excess noise from your effects chain.
    * A single Trigger knob sets the volume threshold.
    * Capable of reducing noise up to 26 dB.
    * Maintains riff definition at extreme gain levels.

    This one is a straight cash grab. WTF????

    * Add shimmery velocity to lead licks, or add swoosh to chords.
    * Works well with bass, keyboards and even vocals.
    * Heard on Zakk’s legendary blazing leads and solos.
    * Limited 2011 run.

    I'm also not a big fan of distortion pedals but everybody who's looking out for one should try the Carl Martin Plexitone...

    That '78 distortion doesn't lie...

    It sounds buzzy and crappy just like most distorted tones of the era...

    Reeeeally interested in this one...I just have a little background hiss I'd like to do away with, don't really need a full-on "gate" either.

    The newer amps have made distortion pedals obsolete. They were used to push the amp over the top or to allow you to have some dirt without rattling the neighborhood. I never use them anymore. I still use a Fuzz Face though.

    Has anyone here tried the MXR Carbon Copy pedal? I've been meaning to research it, but would love hear some opinions from you all...

    I've tried one; they're definitely worth picking up...very much like a more "hi-fi" version of the old green MXR Analog Delay for its coolness factor...sounds great.
