Is he really worth the hype?
Is he really worth the hype?
I dunno...Newton's stock really took a hit this weekend when he failed to hit many of his receivers at the NFL Combine, completing only 11 for 21. Hardly an impressive performance. Say what you will about this being an exhibition, but the only throws ESPN has shown thus far are the string of incomplete passes he made. That is the sort of thing that sticks with people, and may have done him more harm than that idiotic "I wanna be an icon" remark last week.

He's icon bit was directed more towards his endorsements if anything. That's not to say he doesn't have an inflated ego but I'm always suspect when somebody is this hyped and has not proven himself on the field yet. I would not be surprised if he turns out to be the NFL's biggest bust since that San Diego douche Ryan Leaf.
He wasn't "the man" at Florida, so he takes his toys and goes home.
Hides out in JUCO to keep himself eligible at a major school while his old man tries to make a deal with the highest bidder?
Such a class act.
He'll be the next Akili Smith.
While we're on the subject of douchebags, how fitting is it that he's standing next to Brandon EyeSpikes?
I'm not excusing Terelle Pryor for getting free tattoos, but a 5 game suspension compared to a 1 QUARTER suspension slapped on a goon who tried to BLIND another player on national TV?
What a joke. No wonder Meyer "retired"...
He will bomb, nothing about Newton makes me think he will commit himself to being a good NFL QB. Even if he were fully committed it would be a reach and I never see him being a high effort, first one in last to leave type player.
