Long time lurker and infrequent poster here. Just thought I'd share a little project I did a couple years ago.
This guitar was originally a red Kramer Focus 2000 from around 1985 (I think, got it used in 1986). I replaced the original maple/rosewood Kramer neck with a maple Warmoth compound radius neck off E-Bay for about $120, swapped out the original Duncan JB pickup for a Duncan Custom shop EVH '78 humbucker, added an EVH D-Tuna, Floydupgrades brass tremblock and trem-stopper, and replaced the vol. pot for the Bournes EVH type (not really necessary, but it's a very smooth pot).
For the paint I went the rattle-can route. Not only for ease and cost but mainly because I live in an aprtment with no good ventilated space to do a more factory-like paint job. I left the original red and just sanded off the clear-coat so I'd have a "primer". The taping was the most time consuming part. I did about 2-3 coats of black and 2 light shots of clear I spent alot of time searching for good pics of Ed's black and yellow (finding a pic of the back of the guitar was tough).
Anyway voila here's what I call my "Frankenkramer".
