There are many, many duds to pick from.
'Josephine' was particuarly awful; as was 'Amsterdam' (Wham Bam.....for fucks sake...). I throw up in my mouth a little just thinking about 'In 'n' Out'.
However, for me, 'Man on a Mission' takes it. A uninspired, lazy, bloated grandma-sex of a song. The antithesis of EVERYTHING CVH was about.

I always figured How Many Say I would make a stellar Pink Floyd tune... just throw in Gilmore's guitar and reverb heavy drum tracks with a few synth generated animal noises... instant Roger Waters style hit...
"If you want to be a monk... you gotta cook a lot of rice...
At least with some of those other duds, I can find a cool riff somewhere in them. How many say I has nothing. It is truly awful.
First of all...this is not Van Halen! There is no Van Halen without Dave...regardless of how much Gary tried to keep the legacy alive.
Second....yes, this is easily the most worthless piece of puke that Edward has ever produced.
I'm glad that I never personally witnessed this tour, because I would have been embarrassed for ol' Ed watching him try to croak out this melody free, hook free, rhythmically absent piece of shit.
The quality of that video is better than the song....and that's really sayin' somethin'...

This is a prime example of what happens when Ed is running the show...
And this is a prime example of what you get when Dave is running the show....
They should have changed the name of the song to "Booo"...
As lame as the Hagar/Cherone era's were, I cunt believe 2 people think VH put out a worse tune than this one under the VH moniker....
(Jus sayin)
Great losses often bring only a numb shock. To truly plunge a victim into misery, you must overwhelm him with many small sufferings.
To Ed, it was called "How Many Say I."
To the audience, it was known by one of two monikers...."Bathroom Break" or "Beer Run."
Sadly, VH III is the only VH show I ever left early. I even sat through the entire 2004 show as uncomfortable as it was. They played at the Del Mar Fair in San Diego county that summer. Tickets dropped to $10 the day of and the last couple hours before the show that was $10 for 2 tickets. 2 for 1. We had great spots to watch. On the field about the equivalent of a 15th row. Was absolutlely atrocious. I did not like this new band at all. There was zero Van Halen vibe. I did not feel like it was Van halen at all. Not even 3/4. We left when the show was about 2/3 done.
I remember walking through the parking lot to my car hearing them playing Panama in the distance and being very, very sad.
The only song I enjoyed was Somebody Get Me A Doctor with Michael Anthony singing. I really felt instead of Cherone, they should have just done it 3-man and let Mike handle all the vocals.
YIKES.....that is fuckin horrible on so many levels i don't even know where to start
There was a lot of mediocre, forgettable stuff recorded during the Van Hagar era and most of VH3 but I think the worst in order is:
How Many Say I
Up For Breakfast
Man on a Mission
In n' Out
Right Now (not bad musically but awful lyrics)
The only CVH song I can't stand listening to is Dancing in the Streets
And, if I'm not mistaken, they actually played that AS AN ENCORE.....
VH III was the final proof I needed that Andy John's assessment of Ed was spot on.......the guys an amazing guitarist but he thinks he's a musical genius and he's just a great guitarist, period. [paraphrasing]
VH III is a total Ed album and like Zappa said.......Shut up and play your guitar!
I bet Gary got Ed from behind one night while Ed was on the Smokin' Loon, being soul mates and all. When he sobered up he remembered it and took to the meth to forget.
Useless discussion....Gary and Sammy are dead and gone in VH camp....
Dave's recording a new album with THE band, that's GOOD ENOUGH!
Has anyone got a recording of the bit where Stern lets Roth hear 'How Many Say I' ? I remember listening to that years ago, funny stuff.
It used to be here: DLR AUDIO INTERVIEWS, so there is a possibility someone around here might still have it laying around.
The remarkable thing is that he pours hot water on the cat for over 6 fucking minutes!
More like "How many say LIE!"
Incredible that the two or three minutes the classic line up was onstage at the MTV Awards (probably the last time they'll ever be on stage together) was a million times more entertaining than the entire Spudnuts and Cherone eras.
Even more incredible that the brothers were so deluded that they thought they could tease a CVH reunion, then get away with spEd sat banging away at a piano like your retarded cousin in the mental home.

I haven't listened to 'How Many Say I', or any of the other songs mentioned in this thread, & frankly, I don't think I ever will.
You see, of all the albums I've listened throughout me life, I can remember bits & pieces of even the lamest ones, but from FUCK - the only VH album I listened to without Roth - the ONLY bit I can remember is Eddie V.'s Black & Decker intro.
The rest of the album was uninteresting enuff to put me off VH for the next decade or so, when I decided to give it another go. Fortunately, I did so with Fair Warning.
Yeah... I don't think I'll be listening to Eddie V. without Roth anytime soon.
It's not that it sucks.
It's just that it's a waste of time, like watching a dog take a shit.
Cheers! :bottle:
