I was at Saturday night's game. A friend scored dream seats from his work. Sat 5 rows behind that A-hole Guliani. I know the players heard my shout outs, because everyone is so uppity in that section. That wasn't going to shut my blue collar big mouth none. Best part of the game was watching the comeback from out in the giant hallway on the big screen over the Hard Rock Cafe enterence. Place was packed with people ready to push through the turnstiles to make a mad dash to catch the last NJ train. Ichiro home run, the place went nuts. Raul's, you could hear a pin drop after he hit it. Soon as it dropped in the crowd, the place went berserk. Complete strangers hugging. Best part of the game was standing in a concourse. Unfortunately, the night was all downhill from there. Lost the game, lost Jete and missed the last train by two fucking minutes and ended up taking a cab home from Newark. Oh well. As Curtis Granderson would deadpan, "that's baseball."

Why has their been so many empty seats in Yankee Stadium in all these Playoff games?

I don't know. I noticed that all of the seats that were behind the foul poles on each section were empty. I assumed they wanted to keep the visibility for any close home run calls completely clear.

Damn, that umpire screwed up with that call at second last night. Would have been a lot easier for the sleepy Yanks to manufacture a run to tie if they got out of that inning. Bad call aside, they truly are not playing like a team that deserves to be there.

Tons of empty seats behind home plate, and the dugouts too. Crazy.

The Yanks run production is basically zilch. They are making some average pitchers look like Cy Young candidates. Now they get Verlander!

And they've been taking great outings by their own pitchers (no hitter into the 6th last night FFS!) and wasting them.

Back to the unfilled seat issue. They're too damn expensive. Bottom line. All of this big dumb money the players demand has ruined for the fans. I wouldn't doubt that most people who ended up at these games got in the way I did. Someone got comped some shmuze tickets from work. I'll always be a Yankee fan, but I also will forever be disgusted by how much money has ruined the enjoyment of getting to the stadium. It's not for families any more. Only fat cats. And the fat cats in the head office don't seem to mind that all of those seats towards the front are half empty. They got their money for them already. If I want to take my family out to a ball game, we do minor league games.

This is how I heard it explained on MLB network the season the new stadium opened . Apparently this didn't go so un-noticed during broadcasts of Yankees games during the innaugural season of the new Yankee Stadium .
The great majority of people simple cannot affords those seats . Apparently they are in the 4 figure range . Also , the powers that be for the Yankees begged the televisers to please show only certain strategic shots during Yankees games so that the empty seats wouldn't be so noticeable . They considered it " an embarrasment "
Regardless , it's still on my " to do " list to see a game at Yankees Stadium someday . I appreciate and respect the history of the " classic " Yankees . On that note , I wish Derek Jeter a full recovery . I feel he could have played during any era and still be a All Star and a class act . Good Luck to the Captain !
I'm still hoping for a Cards vs. Yanks World Series .

Heard on WFAN this morning that dickhead Arod after he was benched in game 1 in the 9th was autographing 2 baseballs and sending them to 2 hot chicks with instructions to put their phone numbers on the ball and return to him. One did by the way. That's where this guy's head is at after being benched in a playoff game. And Swisher bitching and moaning about the fans? See ya Swish....good luck and have fun acting like a complete moron for all 2,800 fans in Kansas City next year when your playing for the Royals. I know it's Verlander tonight.....but it ain't over till it's over.....even if it is getting late early. Good for you DLR being a blue collar fan in a sea of lame, corporate, know nothing Manhattanite Yankee fans.

People were looking at me like they were contemplating requesting that I be escorted out. I wasn't even drunk! They should consider themselves lucky.

Yeah, if that's true about A-Rod, he needs to die in a fire (apologies to jhale667). Swisher knows his days are numbered. Why he'd want to end this chapter of his life on a sour note is beyond me. I admire his positive attitude, but he's clearly immature as well. If you can't block out a dumb drunk fan exclaiming it was his fault Jeter got hurt, then go play with a paper thin skin somewhere else. Perhaps KC.

As far as the Yanks hopes go, I'm not giving up on them yet. They dropped the 1st two games of the '96 World Series at home and turned it around. This current team, all choking aside, could potentially be far more dangerous. The fat lady hasn't even cleared her throat yet.

Was At Friday's game 5 against the O's. I from Baltimore and had no problem getting seats cheap. At first pitch they were lucky to have 10k there. Sad very sad. On a side note just wish Jeter broke his ankle in our first game of series.

My tickets in the mail yet?

You have bigger things to worry about with your Ravens bro! Those fuckers cost me on a back door cover. They are banged up health wise......ok....I'll stop....it's a baseball thread. Camden Yards is friggin sweet by the way.....was there last month to watch the Yankees spank the O's in the final game of the series. The game after Tex was called out at first on a double play he beat by a mile.

No doubt they are banged up. With 10 games left 6on the Road. Looks like the end of Ray Lewis career. Oh yeah baseball thread...
Go to 20-30 games a year at The Yard even when losing 100 games a season. Karma is a bitch after CC broke Markakis hand 1 1/2 month ago.
