I wonder if Don Mattingly will be fired ? The NLDS series between the Dodgers and my Cardinals was much closer than the final result . I do believe Mattingly mis-managed here and there but did the best he could with what he had . As great as Kershaw is , maybe it's time to keep him at a pitch count .
Mattingly isn't going to be fired but the GM Ned Colletti might be. If Donnie would have been able to trust the bullpen he would have pulled Kershaw after he gave up the first hit in the 7th inning. Looks like we're stuck with Brian Wilson for another year but we might be able to get rid of some of the other losers we have in the bullpen now. I saw an article last night that suggested they might be willing to trade Puig. I hope they don't but he is a liability on the base paths.

I do believe Puigs' exhuberance is his liability . He hasn't learned to channel and contain his enthusiasm yet . Once he is reeled in he has all the potential in the world .

Great team. Injuries and running into a hot team that is playing baseball the way it should be played, is why the O's are down. This has been a great and competitive series, that could easily have the O's up 2-0 right now.

I don't care who wins the World Series this year as long as it's not the Giants.

My annually underdog Cardinals will try to see to that . All knotted up at a game apiece . Wongs homerun was epic !

Congrats to the S.F. Giants for winning the N.L. pennant . Good teams capitalize on the other teams mistakes and the Cardinals had plenty . Would have loved another I - 70 Series with the cross state rivals . Gotta root for the N.L. team . I just can't pull for a league that waters down baseball with a D. H. If you put on the uniform and glove and call yourself a baseball player you should swing the bat like every other baseball player . That is real baseball . As always , may the actual best team win fair and square .

Cardinals rookie outfielder Oscar Tavares and his girlfriend were killed in an automobile accident in the Dominican Republic this afternoon . He was only 22 years young . That guy had a hell of a lot of potential . I got to see him play a few time at Busch Stadium this year . He hit a homerun in his first at bat and hit .429 in the postseason . My God , what a waste . A classic case of What could have been . R. I. P. # 18 .

So, uh, the Pad's and Chi Sox got serious makeovers. A Roid is back between the lines. Cubs Kris Bryant goes down to the minors after finishing the spring training hitting .425, nine dongs and 15 RBIs in 40 at-bats.

Anyone have thoughts about the upcoming campaign? Plenty of folks picking the Nats...

As of this moment , I'd say the National League Central will be the hardest to dissect and the hardest to win . Every team upgraded , even the Cubs . It won't be easy but I favor the Cards to win the division itself . The L.A. Dodgers in the West , the Washington Nationals in the East . A lot can and certainly will happen between now and October . I don't pay much attention to the A.L. till the playoffs . The use of the DH just completely turns me off .

It's shit like that that incites the terrorists in the Middle East and I'm not surprised.

Marlins fans started opening day. Imagine, building a stadium with a retractable roof to avoid rain outs, and getting one anyway when the damned thing is left open in a thunderstorm. This is on opening day, similar to the time we ran out of hot dogs. Besides, the fielding blows, the pitching stinks and apparently, nobody can seem to bat their weight.

The vast majority of baseball fans (mainly in Michigan) just go to a nearby bar and get regular alcoholic beverages & meals before the game, drink from their car, or from whatever flask they were able to sneak in the stadium that day. Those options cost about 75% percent less. You have to be some rich posh douchebag asshole to buy those expensive drinks at the stadium.

    No kidding...

Vendor: OK, here's your beer sir, served in a Dixie Cup. That will be $6.50.
    Me: Ummm...what?

I don't mind paying the price, but I drink one beer. I'm not like the rest of the population, that can't seem to do anything these days without being wasted.

    You're no fun!

In any case, it's hard to get much more than one beer at the Bills/NFL games I've been too recently since everything gets shut down at halftime. I fully support that BTW, with the bounty of giant fucking drunken assholes that seem to attend...

There seems to be something of an arms race going on at American stadiums as to who can come up with the most gourmet variations of hotdogs, burgers and drinks. It's all about marketing and attention...
