Almost forgot, how bout Clemens making a start Saturday?
Either the league has figured out Nova or he's hurt cuz he hasn't done much since the all star break. Pineda.......jeez.....he's like a cross between Pavano and Jeff Weaver.....and that ain't good. Clemens.....now that's funny. I hope the Yankees don't go anywhere near that guy.

The bullpen hasn't been the problem this year....I don't know what the hell happened!!!! My girlfriend and I were high 5'ing and jumping around the living room and then 5 minutes later Baltimore's hitting moonshots! Why our pitchers insist on throwing hittable pitches with 1-2 counts I'll never figure out. I'm heading down to Baltimore this weekend.....going Sunday to watch the immortal Freddy Garcia pitch. First trip to Camden....very psyched....but come on Yankees....please don't make this a lost weekend!!! What do you think the boss would be doing right now if he were still alive? LMAO.....losing like this to Showalter.....he's be going absolutely bonkers.

That's generally been true, but not the case as of late. As a whole they haven't been playing good ball.

If The Boss was around Cashman would have been fired and Girardi and Rothschild would have been looking for work long ago too. Hell, he may have found a way to channel Billy back!

At least last night was a step in the right direction with A Rod doing a little something and Russell Martin has been pretty hot too. Not a bad outing for Hughes either.

Thanks.....I just got back late Monday night. I never even saw this post until this morning. Baltimore is a good time.....I don't know why everyone dogs it and sayss...."be careful....it's a bad area". I had a great time there. Camden Yards is a friggin jewel of a park. I was lucky enough to be at Sunday's 13-3 Yankee win. Good times in the inner harbor. Had the sickest view of the park from my room at the Hilton. Can't wait to go back next year. Saw alot of purple jerseys yesterday for the Ravens game.....good sports town. Even saw Michael Phelps give some half ass speech down by the harbor where they were honoring Maryland's olympians.

During MNF last night I caught a quick glimse at the bar that runs along the bottom on the screen that shows scores and sports news. It said something about Clemens possibly pitching a game in the majors this week. Can't find anything on the net to verify.
I wonder if that center who cost the Raiders the game last night caught hell from his teammates.

He was the back up center and I don't think he cost the Raiders the game. Oakland sucks. Worst thing they ever did was get Carson Palmer. They had a good thing going before Jay Campbell got hurt. By the way, this is a baseball thread so I'll shut up now. Just wanted to give props to Camden Yards one more time.....they play really good tunes there.....Hot For Teacher, Mean Street, Even head Generation X's version of Gimme Some Truth. Yanks just lost to Boston. I hate to say it but the Yankees aren't winning shit this year. Time to really start getting younger and trim the fat. Swisher....bye bye.....Grandy.....bye bye.....we are stuck with A-Rod....nobody's taking that contract. Andruw Jones....bye bye. Ibanez.....bye bye. I'm not even sure it's the greatest idea in the world signing Cano to a longterm deal worth 25 mil a yr. Let's start building a team that sees alot of pitches, takes walks, singles, doubles.....can't always live by the 3 run home run....doesn't work that way come playoff time. I want the type of players....and they don't need to be all stars at every friggin position, that the Yankees had when they were building in '93....'94.....On base percentage guys. Where's Stick Michael when you need him?

Great big fat win for the Yanks today. After Oakland scored 4 in the top of the 13th the Yankees came back and scored 4 in the bottom half of the inning. They scored the winning run in the 14th.

Meanwhile, Baltimore won their 16th straight extra-inning game today.

I was, and still am, rooting for the Pirates to finish above .500 for the first time in 20 years. A few weeks ago it looked like a forgone conclusion that they would finish over. But, now they must go 8-3 in their last 11 games to do so.

The Yankees have a 1 1/2 game lead in the AL East with 7 days remaining in the season and are only one game behind Texas for the best record in the American League. But, so many teams are bunched up and close this is what can still happen to them.

    - AL East winner and best record in AL
    - AL East Winner
    - Wildcard
    - No playoffs

It's a pitchers game and the stars are aligning just right for the Yankee starters. It's all up hill from here for the Yanks.

If it ends up as you say, Oakland and Baltimore will both have the best records of the non first place teams. They will then knock heads in a 1 game playoff to determine who the BEST wild card will be. Something new MLB tried this year to make things more interesting and have more teams fight for survival down the stretch. I kinda like it. Good for the game.

It could potentially get even more complicated.

    http://sports.yahoo.com/news/mlb-wil...0966--mlb.html

Major League Baseball will usher in a new playoff format this season. An additional wild-card team has been added in each league, bringing the number of playoff teams to five in each league. The additional wild card brings some questions.

Here is a guide to how teams will qualify for the wild-card spots:

Reasons for the Change - Baseball felt division-winning teams should have a bigger advantage. In recent years, the lone wild-card team had to play a team outside its division in the Division Series. The new format puts a premium on winning the division.

What's New? - The new format has the two wild-card teams playing a one-game "series," with the winner then advancing to play the team with the best record in the league. If the National League playoffs started today, for example, the Atlanta Braves and the St. Louis Cardinals would play one game. The winner would then meet the Washington Nationals in the division series.

What About Ties? - One good thing about this format is that ties will need to be decided on the field. There are several scenarios that present themselves involving the division championship, but the ones below involved only the wild-card spots.

A, B, C, and D Designations - If there are three or four teams tied for wild-card spots, the first step is to designate teams A, B, and C (three teams) or A, B, C, and D (four teams). This is done by a complicated system that first uses head-to-head records, then winning percentage in division or league games, then winning percentage in second half division/league games, and, finally, winning percentage in division/league games in the second half of the season, plus one game, then going back one game at a time until the ties have been broken.

Two Teams Tied for One Wild-Card Spot - The two teams would play one game to determine the wild card.

Three Teams Tied for One Wild-Card Spot - Team A hosts Team B for one game. The winner hosts Team C for one game, and the winner is the wild-card team.

Three Teams Tied for Two Wild-Card Spots - Team A hosts Team B for one game. The winner is declared a wild card. The loser of the game plays at Team C, and the winner is the second wild-card team.

Four Teams Tied for One Wild-Card Spot - Team A hosts Team B, and Team C hosts Team D. The two winners play the next day at the field of the winner between A and B. The winner is the wild card.

Four Teams Tied for Two Wild-Card Spots - Team A hosts Team B, and Team C hosts Team D. The two winners are the wild card teams.

Ready for the Twinkies season to be out if its misery, although the writing may be on the wall for Gardy, which is too bad. Hope he doesn't get the axe. Nothing left to do now but root against the stinking Yankees.

I guess its a great format except for the team that would be 4th..now you get a one game playoff to advance instead of a best of seven...
