JaMarcus Russell: Final Straw Proves He's Biggest Bust in NFL History

    In a word, pathetic.

JaMarcus Russell: Final Straw Proves He's Biggest Bust in NFL History

By Sam Westmoreland The Bleacher Report

JaMarcus Russell's Life Coach Quitting Officially Makes Him Biggest Bust in NFL History

Former Oakland Raiders first overall pick/ starting quarterback JaMarcus Russell may have finally hit rock bottom, after life coach John Lucas reportedly gave up on the former first overall pick earlier this week.

Lucas reportedly got sick of trying to get Russell into anything resembling shape, as the former top pick seemed content to sit on a couch eating Cheetos rather than trying to mount a comeback.

The loss of Lucas' help, along with former potential mentors like Charles Barkley and Ozzie Newsome, all but cements Russell's status as the biggest bust in NFL Draft history.

With his unique combination of a lack of work ethic and drive and affinity for cake and cookies (okay, maybe that's not so unique), Russell opted not to try and improve, and after just three years, the Raiders cut him.

If he'd cared about the game, Russell would have taken that to be a sign he needed to pull it together, but he showed up to workouts with the Redskins and Dolphins weighing nearly 300 pounds, and put together such an uninspired performance that neither team was willing to give him a second chance.

For a player with Russell's skills (cannon arm, decent mobility, solid accuracy when he felt like trying) to not get a second chance with a different team in the NFL speaks volumes to just how big of a bust he is.

For example, Ryan Leaf was cut by the Chargers after two season because of his poor play, but he managed to get another shot in the NFL, courtesy of the Cowboys. Brian Bosworth played two full seasons, before injuries forced him to retire, but Russell's perfectly healthy, he's just lazy.

At this point, there's no way Russell will get another chance; he seems contend to sit at home and spend his money, and that's his choice.

Congratulations, JaMarcus; you're officially the biggest bust in NFL history. The trophy's in the mail.

What scares me is the Dolphins were looking at this sack of shit as recently as last November.

It's beyond astounding. John Lucas doesn't give up on anybody, yet here he finally realized what a lost cause this nitwit really is. The guy would throw at receiver's feet or three yards behind, in front of or over their heads, but the Raiders kept starting him. OK, about 4 years ago he was an MVP in college, but as soon as he gets to the NFL, he balloons to 300 pounds and forgets how to play ball? It just doesn't add up.

On behalf of all the San Diego Chargers fans, I'd like to say "Thank you JaMarcus".

We were really tired of that 'biggest NFL bust' trophy from Ryan Leaf, and are more than happy to pass along the torch.

Perhaps, but only for a limited time. Faster than you can say the words "Mike Tyson", this guy will be broke, in/out of jail and chasing pigeons in the park, not necessarily in that order.

So glad someone posted this. Seen it the other day and wanted to post it here but have only had my phone for Internet. Finally said fuck it and bought a iPad, I have had it with laptops, anyway. Russell is THE biggest douche to ever play in the NFL. Bosworth looks like a Hall of Famer compared to this fucking idiot, Leaf a calm cool solid back up compared to him, Andre Ware the next Warren Moon. Ok, maybe none of those but this fuck head held the Raiders hostage to get a loaded contract and then totally fucked them. I don't feel bad for them because Al Davis is a senile moron now but they should still hunt this asshole down and beat 30 million or 300 pounds out of him, whatever comes first. This pick makes Millen look smart, fuck you Raiders and fuck you Jamarcus Russell.

I know who he is now. (Former) quarterback of the Raiders. Thought the name was familiar in that I saw him when he played the Broncos. And yes, he does have a gut and the only way I can possibly describe his passing ability is that he literally has to throw over his belly to get the ball out of his hands.
