Vastly underrated guitarist, have always enjoyed Alex's playing...

You have convinced me of the advantages of this. I'm definitely going to look into it for my main irreplaceable guitar although it has a Kahler on it?

Last time I saw them live two hours in I had an odd thought about 'How can a human remember all of those notes?'

          I was pretty wasted though...

There is a bit of sense in my thought since Jazz/Blues people improvise and the Classical people have the music in front of them.

Looking forward to seeing them again next month.

You'd have to get it retrofitted for a Floyd first; (as you no doubt know, but for reference) Kahlers mount in a shallow cavity on the face of the guitar, but don't have the spring-cavity in the back like a Floyd or standard Strat trem. It's a pretty involved mod but can be done...

              Hmm...

I'm too scared to do anything too radical to it.

I'll maybe try it on my Ibanez thing first.

That's what I'd recommend. Make sure you like the $50 (or whatever after fund-conversion) part before doing a $200+ destructive modification to your baby, right? But it WILL improve the tone of a Floyd...I'm trying one of the standard Strat Big-Blocks soon, too...

I'd also like to check out the H&K amps Lifeson's using (unless he's switched up mid-tour? Again, can't watch this til later). I've tried some of their amps and while they didn't make me want to swap the Boogie out, they DID sound pretty good!

Alex is the reason my pedalboard is what it is. Most of my effect preference is subliminally derived from his 70's tones.
He was as much of an influence on me as Ed was when I was growing up and developing as a player. He's a true "tonechaser".
His rhythm's are inventive and his solo's are like sonic paintings. He's the one responsible for bringing Rush back to their roots after the
"Grace Under Pressure", "Power Windows" synth phase.

A friend of mine had Alex as a golf partner for a charity fund raiser. Said he's super nice and down to Earth and probably the farthest thing from a "Rock Star" one could imagine.
He tried to press him for some R&R dirt. He didn't care to talk much about the business, except he did say that the guys in The Grateful Dead couldn't stand each other and that
they (The Dead) were only in it for the money...

Alex is a nice guy. A stereotypical Canadian. I should know, I dated one from Winnipeg. On a side note, always wanted to be Alex's guitar tech if I had the knowledge. Some of those early Gibson's he has are just beautiful guitars.

A nice stereotype to be associated with, I must say...
