Women tend to be better shots than men. In fact the best skeet shooter I ever saw was a lesbian who chewed Copenhagen.
Megan McCain doesn't understand what an assault rifle is. An assault rifle by definition has full automatic capability. An AR-15 is not an assault rifle but an M16 is. The two guns are similar but the M16 has full automatic capability and an AR-15 does not. Only a person with a class 5 machine gun license can legally own an assault rifle. For most Americans, they already can't buy one because they don't have the proper licensing which is extremely expensive and hard to get.

The problem with large magazines is they cause Bubba's gun to catch fire. Good job Bubba Bumblefuck, you just ruined your barrel.
Really? A lesbian...? You tend to get out a lot.
Anyhoo, I think Rachel in her holier-than-thou-candor on gun control is a little afraid to admit that firing a 9mm would make her tingle between her legs more than having a back stage pass at an Indigo Girls concert. And being the clandestine anti-Rethuglican mouthpiece I think our dear Rachel made a bedroom eye or two at Meghan. Odd, since Rachel appears to be as anti-femme as well seeming a bit annoyed of having to look "professional" at a gun show with that tacky blouse instead the usual bowling or NASCAR shirt she normally wear to such an event.
Mine isn't too bad accuracy wise. I did a trigger job on it which actually turned out real well. You pull back to the disconnector hook and then squeeze off the shot. My AK is about as accurate as the Marlin 336 lever action I had as a kid. I also put on a AK-74 style muzzle break that keeps it from jumping so much. After 200 yards the 7,62x39 round just drops.

If you want to weld up the bolt and drill holes in your receiver. then you need the proper trigger group. Sure you can hold the disconnector back but without an auto sear you risk the gun firing out of battery and having a round blow up in your face. At least Kalashnikov put that little nib on the back of the bolt carrier to keep Bubba Tinckerfuck from having an out of battery mishap.
Also if you have any M16 sear or bolt parts in your AR-15 even if it doesn't go full auto the ATF will still consider it a machine gun and you will be in real trouble. So be careful what you stuff in your gun these days.

Guns are fairly easy to make. At least crude submachine guns are. The toughest part is the barrel. Even the ammunition is fairly simple to make. The tough part is the gun powder. You can't make that without a chemical plant. So if they really wanted to take the guns away, they could just make the gun powder hard to get. You aren't going to make that in Joe's Garage. I remember going to the Browning museum in Utah and they had a lot of John Browing's original prototypes there. They had the original 1911 pistol, the original BAR, some smaller pistols. They were all really rough, no bluing, hand made pieces. You could see the hand file marks all over them. He probably made most the parts for them with simple hand tools. I don't know if he made his own barrels or how he did his heat treating. But the magazines were all hand bent. You just need a spot welder and a bending jib to make those.
But making guns are a lot like making guitars. You can make a couple and one will be the magical one. It's all resonance. When that gun fires it flexes and the muzzle moves. A lot on a gun like an AK and less on an AR. Also how the gun is held and who shoots it effects the accuracy. You can make a gun malfunction by holding it too loose. Browning had a cool device that you put on the muzzle called a BOSS which allowed you to harmonically tune the gun for the round you were making. So like a highly tuned engine the gun and ammunition become a system as well. So a real accurate rifle has to be custom tuned to a particular shooter and the ammunition matched to that rifle. Change one factor and you mess up the system. So like a musical instrument, it's all about tuning and fitting the needs of a particular person.

I wonder how much say these media personalities really have in anything including wardrobe. It's basically we will pay you well but say what we want you to say and look how we want you to look. It's more showbiz than anything. Real news died a long time ago when you had no idea what the politics of the reporter was. Real news is supposed to be neutral. Now it's just networks and talk shows that divide people on social issues we never will agree on.Odd, since Rachel appears to be as anti-femme as well seeming a bit annoyed of having to look "professional" at a gun show with that tacky blouse instead the usual bowling or NASCAR shirt she normally wear to such an event.

What's frightening? AK's are real simple. Just don't take the trigger group out. Getting that clip spring back in is a real bitch. Just dunk it in some solvent and oil it up with some CLP and you are good to go. They are pretty junky looking new so if you scratch the wood you won't cry about it.

The idea of any weapon that can cause that much destruction frightens me.
I guess its just cultural: outside of a museum, I don't think I've ever seen a gun 'in the flesh'.
The simple answer to the dumbass high capacity magazine question:
Mob of Thieves Swarms Las Vegas Convenience Store
http://www.8newsnow.com/story/145759...venience-store
LAS VEGAS - Caught on camera, a mob of young people bombarded the City Stop convenience store on Sunset Road and Pecos Road and stole $600 in merchandise.
"It became a feeding frenzy," said City Stop owner Jon Athey. "They were in the store for three minutes and 30 seconds… It's a pretty scary thing."
Athey says the crowd darted in and snatched numerous items from the store. "Beer to jerky to candy bars to soda, whatever hit their fancy… potato chips," he said.
A NATION OF COWARDS - Jeffrey R. Snyder
i like rach. she's cooler than eskimo shit.
For me it's shot placement and a quick reload. I lean toward revolvers because I always loved a tuned Smith & Wesson trigger job and with Safari speed loaders I can hold my own with the semi-automatics. Plus, a revolver doesn't throw your brass all over the place.
As far as large capacity magazines go they tend to be unreliable especially if you keep stored fully loaded. The spring loses it's power and you can get jams. I would rather have smaller reliable magazines that are a quick reload. If the gun has a magazine safety get rid of it so you can keep one round in the chamber ready to fire while you change magazines.
Another thing is spraying a lot of shots equals a lot of misses. Set some targets up and blaze away, you will find most the shots don't hit anything.
Again it's like guitars. Equipment does matter to a point but most of it depends on the people using it. So all this argument about magazines is just really feel good talk. You can carry a few big ones or more smaller ones. Before they had quick reloads people use to carry multiple pistols. Nothing really has changed than much in 150 years. We will be arguing about this shit until gun powder becomes obsolete and we have something else to worry about.
That's more scary to me than an AK. A solid hit with a AK round will probably kill you quickly. You won't even know what happened. Getting sliced up with a little fruit knife would probably mean a really bloody, slow painful death. You need about 5 inches of blade to get to the vitals but you can bleed to death slowly. Jam that little fruit knife down through the collar bone area and then tell the mother fucker to put a tourniquet of that. They can't. They will just bleed and freak until they are out of juice. A fruit knife is scary as shit.
We banned AUTOMATIC weapons a long time ago. It was because the prohibition gangsters were buying them and shooting up their rivals with them. You could buy a fully automatic Thompson Machine gun at a sporting goods store in the 1920's. In fact Thompson even ran ads advertising the Tommy Gun as a ranch carbine. It was designed to be a trench sweeper for WWI but the war ended and they had to find a market so hey, let's sell them to farmers who have rabbits and coyotes to kill. Nobody gave a shit until the bad guys started spraying Chicago with them and then people decided something needed to be done.
John Browning used to make belt fed machine guns and take them outside of the city limits and test them. I'm sure the whole town heard the rat-tat-tat-tat. Nobody cared. It was Mr. Browning testing out a new invention. I doubt he had to have any licenses or anything.
So it was pretty much anything went until booze became illegal. Maybe if we legalized drugs there would be less gun violence.
Only at closer ranges. At longer distances, the "shortened," lower-power round loses velocity and isn't much worse than being hit by a 9X19mm pistol round I'm told (though, 9mm's have killed a lot of people too). That's if the shooter can hit you at all. The AK is terribly reliable, but that reliability of looser tolerances comes at a price to precision and accuracy...
The AK fills the void between a high powered rifle and a sub machine gun. It's really more of a machine gun than a rifle.
The M-16 is more of a rifle. I built an AR-15 in 223 Remington and it will outdistance the soviet 7,762 Soviet round. I also have a Tantal in 5,45x39 and it shoots flatter.
With the AK you have a lot of mass going forwards and backwards and barrel flex. The M-16 dumps the gas right into the bolt and has no piston and the barrel is in line with the shoulder stock.
What the AK has going for it is it's made of mild steel and can be manufactured in some pretty poor and crude conditions. It has very few parts to lose and is reliable.
The M-16 is more accurate but requires more maintenance, training, and is harder to manufacture. Also with the wrong lubricants and gun powder it will jam.
Basically if you are on a budget and have a conscript army, the AK is the way to go in a support weapon. It will be around for a long time even when the more advanced nations go to something else. I'm amazed the M-16 has lasted as long as it has.
The number one asset of the AK is it's cheap and gets the job done.

I think the major nations will just go into cyber warfare and economic warfare. You can gain so much more that way than running a big traditional military. Many say much of the US military is actually obsolete. More damage has been done to the US with banking than ever had been done to it with weapons. We have almost become like the Soviet Union in a way because we gave up the consumer manufacturing for a military based industry. Without wars we can't feed that part of our economy and we have to borrow money from China to run that. It's just stupid.
