    Billy Gibbons rig rundown

Interesting video rundown. Guitars, 7 gauge strings (WTF- holy feathers batman), JMP1 preamp, Mojave, etc, etc.

Last count 12 years ago just in ZZ HQ in Houston, 450 stage guitars. More elsewhere.

    great. thanks for posting.

so, what is he saying about the "Gibbons" Les Paul? (I'm not good at hearing English)

it looks like a Tokai Love Rock that Billy got during the Rhythmeen session...

        I can't fathom playing 7 or 8 gauge strings...

Well, maybe when I'm 70+ and twisting the cap off a brew becomes a chore i might switch to 9's....

Yeah I about fell over when he said 7 gauge. And the "heavy" gauge of 8 on one of the others with high action.

Saw every tour they did from 1976 to 2003. Met Billy twice. Nice guy.

Found some interesting stories about him today when doing some research on something unrelated:

Those links are Windows Media redirectors....the extension is .wax. If you have trouble with your media player playing them, do what I did. Copy the link into your location bar of your browser, then change the .wax to .wma, and you can download it or play it just fine.

Todd Austin is a local character. Supposedly a great guitarist, but I have never heard him play. I see him around town at many rock shows though....he has about a foot-tall mohawk, lol.
Seems to be a pretty cool cat though.

I use a MIDI Mouse the same way. I have a number for every guitar and song. I can grab a guitar or bass hit the number and everything is preset. I also run a dry signal to a tube amp that is controlled by a volume pedal because it just gets old school tones that the rack can't including cleaning up with the volume knob. Kind of cool to see Billy discovered some of the same stuff and uses it similar.
