The thing that really bowled me over though was someone getting shit on this site for having long hair.

In high tech companies long hair and tattoos does not seem to be a problem. You won't get a sales rep job but you can work as an engineer. In the finance or insurance industry you better cut your hair and cover your tattoos. They want you to look like a ken doll. It's seems like when you deal with people's money, they don't want you to look like the creative I live by my own terms type.
