I've often wondered why I've owned the book for what seems to be a lifetime now and still I cannot seem to be able to get the chance to finish reading it.....Is it on audio or CD yet so I can throw it in my car while crusing around? I love the photos and the captions in the book....and I refer to it often. Yes Dave represents HAPPINESS. Now the Diamond part I never knew....My pugs asshole was the perfact Diamond shape, and I called him Diamond Dave because of it and many other reasons. I've got the pictures to prove it. I thought he got the name Diamond Dave from that shoe guy that his father bought Rothwood from....I just heard about the story behind that mansion here and thought that that's where Dave may have gotten the name Diamond from. The shoe families name was Diamond right? Or it was the name in the shoe with the lable in it? Ya never know with Dave......MMMMMM nothing like him in the whole wide world!

Awesome. He nails it!That guy needs to be here...
Was waiting for the checkered Vans sneaker stoned skull sound check. Makes some good points but, phew...wha was I talkin' 'bout?
Funny. I'm re-reading "Crazy from the Heat" right now. The first time around was before I was hooked up with the message boards (here and DDLR) and, in fact, was what brought me to them. Since I've learned so much since then - (2003 i think) I thought it deserved another read. Still holds up - still love it and how it changed my life for the better. Cause that's the real reason I love Dave. He had a personal impact on my life and I'll probably never get to thank him for that.
Oh dear.
What a crackup. "When you get to the end of the Dave era, what do you see? Janes Addiction, Alice in Chains (he laffs, mockingly). Death of the feminine, party time is over."
"Nothing gets a yak over a suspension bridge faster than 'Back in the Saddle Again' by Aerosmith" ~ DLR
CFTH is far superior than your predictable, ho-hum sex, drugs and redemption (or not) rock bio.
Funny he thinks "Diamond" is symbolic of vagina. Of course Dave banged a lot of that, but we know it was his nickname because of how flamboyant he was in the early days, and beyond, of course.
