Your screen name: pronounce it and explain it

I've always wondered how to pronounce "sunisinus" and "hambon4lif" and what they mean. And even - is it Gar (like Gay-r) or (Gar - like a pirate's Arrrrrrr with a G in front) (that's a PERFECT set-up for you clowns)

And those of us with song titles for user names are easy to say, but why did you pick it? What does your screen name mean to you?

    Oh dear.

Now see, this is good cause I was seeing something like "sunny sinus",, which made no damned sense.

Mine of course, is easy. It's a song, obviously, and the sexiest song I think Roth wrote. I can just visualize strippers on a pole, and you can read from that whatever you want. It WAS "Sensible Shoes" at DDLR and here, but I guess my old profile got blown out, and in spite of that, the site would not let me re-register with my old name. So I became Shoes, Sensible. A little funnier actually.

At one time, there was a member at DDLR named Sensible Shoe. He complained bitterly that I'd stolen his screen name. I psycho analyzed him in a post concluding that he felt inferior because he only had one shoe. The guy never posted again. Shoes-1, Shoe-0.

Camel jockeys can't handle the Nitro Express. They may have the oil money to afford one and a fancy indoor range but they can't handle the recoil. You have to lean into it. Only one guy knew the trick.

My parents hated me. But they needed something to look good when at parent/teacher meetings. Rather difficult when your mother is a sociopathic Catholic and dad is Satan.

If you want to be mean. Give someone a high powered rifle and tell then to lean up against a tree or wall for support. They will be in agonizing pain after they pull the trigger. I never did that to anyone.

The guy in the cougar T-Shirt knew how to shoot it. You lean into it and relax and let your body take the recoil. If you don't lean into it and tense up you are toast.

    Brethren and Sistren,

The old timers who know me from back in 1996 (when 56kbps dial-up ruled) know the name and the backstory. Father Conmee is a character in Ulysses and A Portrait of The Artist As A Young Man, two works by Mr. James Joyce. Pronounced "Con Me" but with an Irish accent, in the old days folks evidently read it as "Connie" or "Corinne" and thought I was a chick until Pojo started calling me Icon (sadly, I'm not a wildly successful Apple product, but I DID pre-date the original iMac). My close friend Von chose "Commie" as in "Red/Pinko/Socialist" which I feel is a term of endearment. And then there was the evolution of ICoke due to my life's detour into drugs and whores (ok, not so much a detour as a road parallel to my life's highway which is sort of like an access road that I occasional take).

I have three or four college degrees, some of which made great paper airplanes, along the lines of English Literature. Hence, the obscure Father Conmee reference, Ulysses being one of my favorite novels.

    That is all.

It's got nothing to do with the clumsiest of BCE Presidents (and Warren Commission Whitewash chairs) or Henry's car company.

Initially I spelled it "F.O.R.D.", back when I jumped in on this VH internet clusterfuck at the time of the 1996 should-have-been reunion. The name was a tribute to the Van Halen manager who perpetuated the fraud. Spelled out in full, it was "Fuck Off Ray Danniels".

Danniels ceased to be a problem by the end of 1999, but by that time I already was using this name on a dozen or so different websites (including my own), so I didn't really feel like changing it. So I just dropped the dots and kept the name.

    You want heartwarming, Kristy?

FORD is one of my oldest online "friends" ever. Met him at the old Warner Brothers Van Halen discussion board around 1998, and in my first post (taking a cue from FORD), I bashed Danniels and VHIII, and was promptly banned! My very first online banning! A few years later I met Brownsound1 (one of our erstwhile webbies) and he mentioned VHForums. So I headed over there, noticed FORD kicking up dust, and make my first post with a reference to "sheep." My second banning! Worked things out with Brett, got unbanned, teamed up with Pojo, Brownsound1, FORD, Vinnie, JaneVH, RB&W, FullBug/SlawterhouseBug, Hain, and a few others as part of E.U.A.S., then headed over to DLR Army in Spring 2000, bribed Sarge, became a moderator then Webbie, and I've been mailing it in ever since.

    That is all.

Shit. 2000 seems like yesterday. I can remember all the Y2K hype. I was working for American Express and everyone was wondering what was going to happen to out computers. I was in Salt Lake City and they had everything torn up all over the place preparing for the Olympics. Getting to work was a bitch. Everyone was out to get rich then. The optimism was at sickening levels. It was a stockbroker's paradise.

The Army was by far the best Van Halen site in those early days. Daves official site was Slawterhouse and that was rag tag and weird. I always thought Dave needed a better website and the Army was what I felt Dave's site always should have been.

This is true. I still have some Frye boots from college. That's old in Shoe years.

I was watching that documentary on Rush called Beyond the Lighted Stage and it had Ray Daniels talking about managing Rush from the get go. They were nobodies and Ray was a nobody. They grew up together. I mean the guys in Rush aren't stupid so Ray must have been doing something right for them. I just get the impression Ray really got over his head when he was dealing with another major band in a different environment. It just plain didn't work out. I doubt Rush was the soap opera Van Halen was.

I have the Frye 'Melissa' boot. $350 of self-absorbed materialism only to wear another woman's name on my feet.

Oh Christ, my roommate came home about...40 minutes ago and along with her boyfriend of the week are toking it up silly. The place freaking reeks and I'm getting a contact high though a fog of cannabis smoke. I swear, I can't not handle those who toke to cliches. Bob Marley at 1:00AM????

    I hate my life.

I'm sorry, what was this thread about again?

Is he this week's boyfriend because he had weed?

It beats puking. We had so many people puking in our frat house we made a rule if you were going to puke, puke out the window on the stair landing and then hose the puke into the shrubs. We have a no puking in the bathroom rule. After two semesters of that I was done with the whole frat house cliche. Room mate toking was better than the puke fest.

I swear my first year in college was just like the opening scenes of Das Boot.
