    Duncan CCJ Pickup

I was going thru some old boxes of stuff today....getting ready to move..again...3rd time in the past 6 mnths...but I digress...

I stumble upon an old pickup that came out of the guitar that became my "Bumblestein" guitar...my Black & Yellow VH guitar..that has the stripe scheme of the FRankenstrat as instead of the original VH II guitar...........

Its a CCJ....which I now realize is a Duncan "Custom Custom" handwound by Seymour's old lady...............

Just wondering....how much is the thing worth??? Are they rare??? Its been so long since I swaped it out I really don't remember what it sounded like...I replaced it with a JB (Jeff Beck) model sometime in the mid-90's....................

I found an old Seymour Duncan Trembucker in my pile of junk. I put it in a Strat I made out of Ebay parts and it really gets that classic VH tone.

Actually, IIRC "J" refers to Marciela Juarez, the senior pickup winder at Duncan...hers supposedly have more mojo than anyone else on the line...she's Seymour's equivalent to Abigail Ibarra at Fender.

KEEP IT... it does have some collectability action, plus it probably sounds ever-so-slightly better than an average newer one...I have a "CCL" which refers to... Lydia (again IIRC), who's supposedly the No 2 winder there...it's supposedly slightly hotter than the usual CC specs, figured I might find a use for it someday...

OH, and as for how it differs from a JB...the CC is the Custom wind with an A2 magnet...would have more pleasing highs than the JB, more even mids (the JB has what even Duncan refers to as a "midrange spike" that players either love or hate), but the bottom end would be waaaay looser than a JB. I almost dumped the one in my Koa Strat for that reason, but the Big Block's tightened it up enough for me...imagine it'd sound absolutely FLUBBY in the wrong guitar, though...
