“The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge.”― Stephen Hawking
Talk about a jungle boogie.
I would say this is bullshit. In fact I would just about bet on it.

Are you stoned this early in the AM? "Too Hot" is an awesome tune. And if Kool & The Gang does indeed warm up for VH, it will mark the first time in recorded history that I will bother walking into the arena to hear the opening band, other than that one odd evening The Replacements opened for Tom Petty.

"Ya know what they say about angels... An angel is a supernatural being or spirit, usually humanoid in form, found in various religions and mythologies. Plus Roth fan boards..."- ZahZoo April 2013
Is Kool & the Gang like Hootie & the Blowfish (no guy named Hootie)? Or is one of the guys actually called 'Kool'?
I assumed VH wouldn't have an opening act for this media show. Whatever. They always choose weird opening acts anyways. At least we all know the Kool & the Gang songs as opposed to some no name band.

If anybody needs me, I'll be in the concourse drinking and scoping out the MILF's...
Cool and the Gang At a Van Halen concert.
I guess I am just too old school.
Is not the riff to Van Hagar's 'Best of Both Worlds' a reworking of the riff to Kool and the Gang's 'Celebration'? I reckon so. That coulda been a good VH song if we had heard the version Dave probably worked on, before Hagar got the session leftovers for the 5150 album.
Listen, guys, I'd be cool with Kool and the Gang opening. It's gonna be a party, goddam it. And in terms of attitude, I always though VH with Dave were more in that ball park - I repeat, attitude-wise - than they were in the metal camp.
THINK LIKE THE WAVES
I'm cool with Kool & The Gang opening for VH - definitely upbeat music, besides - who the fuck doesn't like Jungle Boogie?
Hell, everytime I hear that song I think of this:

I was just checkin the Cafe Wha? Facebook page to see if there was any info about tonight, and their blurb is interesting:
Is there something in this connection ... !Cafe Wha? is the legendary Village venue where EVERYONE got their start: Bob Dylan. Jimi Hendrix. Bruce Springsteen. Kool and the Gang. Richard Pryor. Bill Cosby.
The first couple of minutes of this are interesting - at the Wha? they talk about starting there. Whether or not there is any truth in the rumour of Look and the Gang opening for VH, my bet is that they were playing there when DLR spent his summers there.
Aside from that - marvel at how lucky WARF and all those other guys will be to be SO close to the mighty VH. A once in a lifetime experience ...

I won a disco dance contest...lie... I/we finished in the top 4 out of maybe 12 couples .. this was a song that played as if I wrote it towards my highschool romeo and juliet love afair...you see it was too hot to hot for ones so young and foolish..and the brass is fenominal....so, I would sit thru this any day of the week.
Love it!

If it's Kool and the Gang I want them to break out their pimped out clothes from the old days!
It's the nickname of the founding member, Robert "Kool" Bell.
The reason I asked about this rumor is because I'm really hoping that it's true. It's just simply brilliant. Especially given what the political climate is going to be this summer, things are going to get a bit 'touchy', to say the very least. Bringing these two worlds together would be like a summit for all the real people that just want to have a good time. All the illiterate racist scumfucks are better off somewhere else fighting amongst each other. If you don't dig it, don't fucking go!
I doubt that it makes much of a difference to alot of Van Halen fans, because saying you like Van Halen is just another way of saying you like good music, but there's always that random punk asshole that just doesn't get it.
If Kool And The Gang is on the bill, then I am totally fuckin' there. That's the crowd I definitely want to be a part of.
If it turns out to be true, then something tells me that Dave had a strong hand in coordinating something like that.
The man's a genius!
Kool & the Gang's site shows them as "booked" for a show on March 3rd. no location, just "booked." then there are three dates after that, two in Dallas, 3/23 and 3/24 at Meyers Symphony Center. last date listed is here in Cleveland at Public Hall on May 24.
Sweet Jesus, I'd love to put a round or several into the nitwit's skull that came up with polyester pants with flares that would get caught in your bicycle's chain-guard, as well as the concept of flower-patterned dress shirts. Nothing announced a lack of personal hygiene on a hot day in Florida during the seventies quite like a fucking silk shirt.
Well, you see you must wash those, "silkie things" in warm water in the sink by hand. I would recomend Woolite as a washing liquid, it is gentle.. to.. the... then hang then to dry , blocking.....them..uhh... with a clean bath towel.........wait a second ...no!! that was not me... I don't know about those things....ahhh shiiitttt!!!!
Ignore the man behing the,.. curtain..... closet....
Dave confirms the album title and gives us a couple of NYC dates!
Already in the other thread bro....
Know I"m brand new to the wonderful world of the RothArmy (love it by the way!) but just wanted to mention thatmy post about the Buffalo/Boston/Montreal/Toronto/Ottawa dates that I posted on a now-closed thread on Tuesday evening were bang on!
Just a little pat on the back for myself for bringing it to y'all. Hope it gives me a half an ounce of cred...
(Because it is so hard to break into the clique!) lol!
Gimmee a bottle of carb-free beer, and a low-fat muffin...TO GO!
