    "In The Round" Shows ??

Now don't take this as gospel, I didn't get this info from anyone with DDE, but rather someone pointed this out to me on Twitter....

If you look at the various ticket broker sites, both the April. 17th show in Winnipeg and June 14th show in San Diego, when you look at the seating chart, show them as "In The Round", with the stage in the center of the stage...

Personally, I highly doubt that's the case, but I thought it was interesting...

Interesting notion...but I'm not sure it would be the case.

However....given that they played such an intimate club gig in NYC, and now plan on releasing the "Downtown Sessions" which are acoustic jams along with a companion DVD, perhaps they have a more laid-back, get closer to the fans attitude for this tour.

Seeing them in the round would be cool.

Geez I hope not... recall seeing Def Leppard in the round years ago. Hated it... half the show was fine the other half was like watching the south end of a north bound bull...

Hmmm, Maybe they just don't have the stage diagram for VH yet? I'm hoping they don't do in the round..

You can sell more tickets if you play in the round, so it's a possibility.

It's damn hard for a band to pull off though....

Checked out First Niagra Center website for the Buffalo show, since it uses tickets.com instead of TM. They actually have a layout showing the price breakdowns according to lower bowl, club and upper bowl. That indicates an end-stage set-up. I was curious as to the pricing layout after seeing 2 prices on some levels on the United Center website... Wish all the venues would go into as much detail!

The foo did both one tour...had a traditional setup and then had another, smaller stage where it was essentially 'in the round"

You know, speaking of getting closer to the fans? U2' second stage, the Stones second stage, all these examples that bring the musicians closer to the fans (and the fans in the "bad seats" at that), where di that all get started?

Dave's Skyscraper tour, with the fucking boxing ring, that's where! No one ever gives Dave the credit, but I'll fucking bet 10 shares of Apple stock that Bono and Jagger saw that and said, "aha!"

They also used a second stage during the 'EEAS' tour... but that Skyscraper tour, man that was over the top... the surf board, the boxing ring, Dave repelling from the rafters... that was wild!

    IN THE ROUND!!!

The Def Leppard Hysteria show at the San Diego Sports Arena still stands as 1 of my top 3 shows of all time! Spectacular!

Saw Metallica in the round. Not as good. Def Lepp OWNED the stage at that time in history.

As for VH in San Diego this June, the COX Arena is a great spot for in the round. It is as SDSU. See if you can find pics. It is very intimate even though large. The bowl of the arena is VERY steep, so it's already tight. Playing center arena would be awesome. Although I still wish they were at the San Diego Sports Arena. I just feel the need to see Van Halen there for history sake. Only seen Van Haggis there & that doesn't count.

Fuck! That's right! I forgot about that. The band remained on the main stage, and Dave had this postage stamp size doohickey on the other end of the arena! That's where Dave would introduce the band, and have Steve reply with his talking guitar, and Billy would show off his lung power. And dave would do all his martial arts kicks and spins and you couldn't take your eyes off him.

Come to think of it, was it the stones '81 your where Jagger had a cherry picker take him over the audience?

He did the boxing ring on EEAS Im pretty positive. I remember they shuttled him there in a gearcase with wheels. Just shoved Dave into that box. lol. Sammy never tried it cause someone would have locked the gearcase & pushed it off the Coronado Bridge.

Nope, boxing ring - complete with sparkly boxing gloves - was Skyscraper. I guarantee it. The "gimmick" for ALAE was the devils' spewing "jack daniel's", and for YFLM was how small the venues had become.

Checked the TM link to buy tix for the Montreal show, and the site had an end-stage seating plan also, fully divided with price layouts...
No light at the end of the tunnel, due to budget constraints...
