What was the topic again?
Nitro, I had it done. A guy out of Mississippi did it for me. A local guy here in Detroit did the front blinker bezels, and the rear tailight bezels. (Thank goodness those weren't my liver spotted hands in that pic, since I don't drink!). The gauges were done in California. Everything else we did ourselves. We will be doing the red black and white paint within the next month. I never intended to go this overboard with it, but it will be a badass tribute to the greatest rock and roll band ever. I agree, that steering wheel would go good on Dave's Merc.

Your dumping a lot of money into that buggy. Is it on a VW pan? I'm actually doing an off body restoration on a 73 Bug at the moment. Hopefully it will be done by summer. I'm doing all the body prep getting it ready for paint. We still haven't settled on a color yet. I like metal flake green. My daughter wants blue. My wife wants yellow. Trying to decide a color with women involved will take longer than rebuilding the damn car. LOL!
It was on a VW pan, but I stripped it down and decided to go with a square tube frame. My wife was all for the VH theme, but unfortunately she passed before I could complete it. Tell your wife you are going to black and white or black and gold stripe it!
Where the fuck is Momshell? Is she going to the show again tonight? Thank goodness we have 2 NYC threads!

Actually I set up a paint booth. I have a big barn on my property I've converted over to a project garage. Yeah black with a metalic silver VH logo on the roof and doors trimmed in white outline would look sweet. I got some Porsche styled wheels I'm going to put on it. The engine is done and runs great. Got the Webers tuned. I've done one before and figure the interior trim can be done on a long Saturday. Once the paint is done it's going to come together quick.
Nice! We are doing the same thing. I am using a base coat clear coat. I want the stripes to be smooth. The paint cost me a fucking fortune. I converted it to 5 lug torque thrust II rims, with disc brakes all the way around. We put the whole thing together to pre fit everything, and then tore it down to do the body and paint. It will be on the road this spring, just in time for VH's return to the motor city!

Dude, I didn't even drop one glove. It's all good though. I fucking love it. Shit like that used to be an every day occurence around here. If I couldn't take it, I sure wouldn't dish it out.
You gotta admit Manbone, that was a fairly good one he tossed out there. It's not like anyone forced me to turn that shithole off! I can build a buggy, and travel the country for VH shows with all the money I am saving!

And by the way. You were the one acting all "elitest" with you donation comment. I simply stated a fact. I have donated more time, energy, money and product to this site, and that other shithole, than you can imagine. I am not bragging. I'm really kind of out of the loop anymore. But, I really did enjoy our banter. Fun stuff. I have never met anyone in person from any of these sites, that I didn't like. Of course, I haven't met Elvis yet, so there is still hope!

Awww I was enjoying that.
Fuck you Von Halen! (get him going again)
Oh dear.
Well...I'm not sure how suggesting that you donate makes me the "elitist" after you referred to people who don't shell out big $$$ for multiple shows as "excuse making homos" and "less fortunate"....but we'll call it a draw.
But it was a fun diversion for a Thursday afternoon!!
God, this is sickening the way the fryingduchess and the once mighty Von Halen made up
Fuckinay right it was. I can't even remember the last time I jumped down from the tower like that.
He also has a point. It would be nice to catch a half dozen shows, but when it came right down to it, my finances dictated that I choose between Chicago and Rosemont. That's the way it is. I have a feeling I'll catch the better of the two, so I'm cool with that.
I don't enjoy the way my old pal Von Halen is ignoring me
Detroit and Buffalo for me. I would go to Toronto, but my Son is in the State Championships for hockey that weekend. I am sure them dumbass Canadian's can forgive me since it is hockey related. I will wait for the next leg of the tour, hopefully in warmer weather. I want to drive the buggy to a show so I can see if Ed will sue me. Or make me "cease and desist" from driving it! The new disc will be emanating from it at a rather high volume, so he might appreciate that.
I was there 2 weeks ago for Westminster. It really is the "Mecca" of venues.
I'm notorious for buying more paint than needed. It's better than running out and never matching the color. What paint are you going with? PPG? House of Kolor? I even have a paint can shaker. It makes a huge difference especially with metal flake and pearl paints. You just can't stir them and get an even mix. I used to do lettering and pin stripping. I'm out of practice but I still have all my brushes. The key to a great paint job past doing all the prep and using the spray gun correctly is religiously following all the paint instructions at the bench. Make sure the humidity and temperature is where it should be and Mix your paint and hardeners in the exact ratios and mix them well. Also make sure your primer and other chemicals are compatible. I've seen plenty of people spend hours and hours making sure the body work is perfect and then they do a rush job at the bench, get something wrong and fuck up the paint job.
