"Ya know what they say about angels... An angel is a supernatural being or spirit, usually humanoid in form, found in various religions and mythologies. Plus Roth fan boards..."- ZahZoo April 2013
OK, the tracking number says my new camera is coming today. I will dual wielding it along with my current camera, so I will hopefully have good pictures and videos of the show. I am not going to bother to unpack from Iron Maiden, I'm just gonna reload my suitcase and about this time tomorrow be on my way.
"Don't want 'em to get you goat, don't show 'em where it's hid." - David Lee Roth
Drive safely, my brother from another mother! I have to work most of the day but should make the show easily!
Roth on!
Please, please, take a LOT of pictures of Dave
The heart is on the left. The blood is red.
Almostsaved is videoing this bad boy! Can't fucking wait to see the vids he gets!!!
Told ya I was comin' back... Say you missed me... Say it like ya mean it!
Okay so I bought a SONY HD Camcorder...Not just for the show but because my old Camcorder was a Hi 8 and it's time to go digital. Problem is, I want to take it to the show...but when my girlfriend called the New Orleans Arena today, they said they didn't know about the camera situation but as a rule the New Orleans Arena frowns on any and all video cameras. This camera is really small... I'd like to take it in, but I don't want to get kicked out. Do they normally kick people out for that or just ask you to stop filming? I have an older more compact VADO HD camera but the zoom sucks. I have used it at numerous shows (as seen on my YouTube channel). Here's the link to the SONY camera. As you can see it's fairly compact:
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-HDR-CX260...rds=hdr+cx260v
They're not strict once you get inside the arena...
I really want to use this camera. I'm 5th row and this thing takes some great video. By no means am I filming the entire show.
ALMOST, it's OK, rest assured my brother!!!!!!!!!!
please charge your battery and I will add the OFFICIAL NO ARENA policy in my next post in just a couple of minutes!!!!!!!!
Roth on - BRING THE CAMERA!!!!!!!

They do very little bag checking...
ALMOST, check your PM 7:01 p.m T minus 25 hours and counting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now, advise me. I've got two club level seats and two floor seats. Taking the wife and 2 boys. My generous spirit has me "willing" (if not wanting) to watch the first hour from the floor and then swap seats with the other 2 in the family at that time so they can see the end of the show and "jump" (which is the song I'd most like to see dropped from the set list in favor of any other song from the "seven pack). Knowing that's not gonna happen, will meeting off the floor and physically swapping tickets be good enough to the wife and big kid to the floor seats?
TIA,
Roth ON!
Even the Harvard dropouts working the door don't want to look at Elvis' bag...
I saw two girls turned away at the door for having point n shoot cameras in their purses at the Def Leppard / Poison /Cheap Trick show a few years back- (the policy then was NO CAMERAS) I would NOT risk a camera under those circumstances- HOWEVER, you WILL be safe unless you refuse to lose the tripod or have a TV style camera!
consider sneaking in a collapsible "monopod" - preferably made of fiberglass so you can shoot great video!
hell, go in on "crutches" you can reassemble as a monopod -the Americans with Disabilities Act will shield you from hassle
better yet, throw one down and rest the camera on the other (if you don't have time to mount a "mounting screw" on one

this may be... and I CERTAINLY HOPE IT IS NOT... your last chance to film CVH/the NVH or whatever the fuck you want to call this kick ass band!
have your girl put it in her purse.. you should be good to go
It's not just Van Halen shows, the industry as a whole has given up on trying to stop it now, with all phones now having cameras and video it is hopeless. You can't tell people they can't bring phones in, so it is pointless to try and stop it, might as well embrace it as Van Halen has done.
Have a great time tonight and truly take in and enjoy the show!
We waltzed into the show in Buffalo with my Canon 7D and 70-200mm 2.8 lens. After 30 plus years of sneaking even small cameras into shows, I was extremely paranoid about walking in with this rig. Even though I knew VH's policy on this tour, I just couldn't believe I was going to be allowed to just stroll in with this setup. Security never even batted an eye.
Personally, I think this is one of the many cool things VH has done right on this tour. Most bands probably would have given in to the simple point and shoot stuff, and VH fucking sets the new standard by letting us in with true pro rigs, as well as HD video cameras and even audio recording devices. Once again, VH changes the game!
I had NO problems in Philly . Walked up and the ticket person ask his boss about cameras. They said anything but professional equipment and tripods .
My tickets in the mail yet?
Enjoy the show people ,,, take shit loads of pics and post lots of reviews .... keep us busy til the next one.
fuck your fucking framing
Weather down there OK? Judging by weather.com it doesn't look like Tropical Storm Debby is going to interfere with this show or that New Orleans is even in the projected path.
The weather is perfect...
Well, were headed for the city...
Peace out !!
=VH=
My view of where it all goes down tonight from the 21st Floor at 1:06 p.m.
Enjoy the show you crazy cajuns!!!! Anybody here feeling a little melancholy about this being the last show of this leg? I know everything has been running smoothly and they have been kicking ass....but is anyone maybe 10% nervous about this possibly being the last VH show? I'm trying not to be pessimistic but I have to admit I'm a little nervous.
Mmmmmm not nervous , a bit gutted they seem to be hitting a bit of a roll , Dave is over what he was struggling with and it's just a pity to stop when their hot ...fuck knows what we do round here for the next couple of months , we have had it to good , cd, video messages , tour .. Might be a long couple of months
