Other than that fat fuck in the bowling shirt who almost had his dental history erased, I have to say it may have been the best Van Halen show I have ever seen.

It's funny seeing 2012 people react to the mighty Van Halen. "Tweets" about Van Halen. Give me a break! The vapid, stupid, TMZ culture is just a fucking joke cuntpared to the beer drinkin', hell raising', kick ass rock and roll lifestyle. I'll take the hardcore classics over the disposable bullshit of 2012.

People are so gay these days. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Dave had some great oneliners and had a TON of energy. Ed was just Fuckin stellar.

Gotta get some sleep, I'm getting up same time as the whore. What a night!
Look for HFT on the youtubes. The ending was STELLAR. Dave: "that was the best one yet".

shit, wish I had more time to write this am, but gotta get work done. Just know this y'all: they keep getting better on this tour. What a fuckin' night!!!

This is silly, but my favorite moment might have been when my 11-yr old, all on his own, raised his right hand during SGMAD and did the train whistle right on fuckin' cue! Proud moment for dad....

Also, Dave did the substitute teacher joke during HFT about Panama being down the hall and 5 songs from now...exactly 5 songs later, the kid looks over at me as Panama kicks in and holds up 5 fingers and a big grin - guess he was counting....

I hope it's not Uncle Dave putting the kebosh on some of the tunes they are playing in soundcheck.

I can't see them doing LUTS, he struggles too much in that higher register...

Best VH show I have seen since back to back nights at the old Checkerdome in the summer of 1984. The band sounds great. DLR had a good night. He ducked a few high notes and did not use his low speaking voice on the interludes from the new material (Tattoo and TTWN) but I thought he played the vocals pretty straight all night. He did "forget the words" on Outta Love and invited the crowd onto the chorus like he was a tour director (he said he was allowed to do so since he wrote the damn lyrics). At his request, all air conditioners at the arena were turned off so it got a bit "sweaty" on the floor. But well worth it as DLR was not distracted by any technical issues (except a quick order for the crew to turn off a broken monitor on stage right). Very impressed by Wolfgang. Pulled off the unison runs with EVH on STW and CT very well. Backround vocals were clear and strong. EVH played impeccibly all night -- the only time he struggled was with a few of the higher arpeggios on Cathedral, seemed like the timing of his the delay with the volume knob swells were a little off with the left hand hammer ons -- but I did not hear an off note for the rest of the show. Al was rock solid all night -- drum solo is indeed much shorter than prior tours, with the jazz/latin samples throughout. The band seemed to be in good spirits and interacted well. DLR smiled with his Cheshire Cat grin whenever he was not hamming it up and doing little dance steps. There really is no let up in the set -- no messing around between songs, very little time to catch your breathe and no encore per se. Just classic VH, delivered steaming hot with no BS.

Actually ---- there's a lot wrong with it.

When I see all these dumb 20-something cunts sending out Tweets like "God I miss Sammy" ---- these are the same people who are taking over the next generation from us. These cumstain cowboys are the next wave of CEO's and politicians who will control America.

    That makes me vomit chunks.

I traveled from South Mississippi to Greensboro on the last tour. Was a trip to remember. The city was great. The show was amazing....but the road trip there was the worst I'd ever encountered. (Tire blowout, Atlanta traffic, mutliple car accidents tying up the roads for an hour at a time). There was a split second where I almost said, "Fuck it" and turned around...and then I remembered it'd been 23 years that I'd waited to see Dave and Ed on stage together again and then it became a mission.

At the show I was wearing a shirt that said, "It Ain't Van Halen Without David Lee Roth." I still can't remember where I ordered that from....possibly DDLR site. Some dude came up to me and said, "You're one of the crew!" I forgot I was wearing the shirt and didn't know what the fuck he was talking about...and he pointed at my shirt.

I uploaded my video for "Runnin' With The Devil" that night when I got back to my hotel and Blabbermouth picked it up and the hits were ridiculous...then I uploaded my other vids and they took off too. VH was back and all was right in the world.

This posting is probably best suited for the Greensboro thread...

I think the quote was something like, "that's OK, I was here when we built this song." Dave's banter was on all night, but atlkat is right, very rapid-fire, not much wasted time at all.

Yeah, I think it's been just about every night. It sounded really good. Sorry I'm gonna miss you guys tomorrow. It was a real blast last time, but too many commitments with the family this weekend. It's all worth it, though. Last night with the kid was pretty sweet; he really enjoyed himself and not like last tour when he was only 7 and it was just cool to be out at a show.

From last nights show: Not sure how to post these full-size but you can double click on them. (No, I'm not very computer literate)
Sorry we didn't get to meet anyone at Taco Mac. We were there until around 6 then went and got in line to get in the doors.
My son had the time of his life and was spell-bound by Eddie's solo. They were really ON tonight. We had the time of our lives.....can't tell you how much it means to share this will your child!!!

I had to share this. The wife is not a Van Halen fan on the same level that we are, probably a much more of a typical fan. We were reviewing and sharing thoughts about the show and she said one of the things she was most impressed with were the vocal harmonies. She and her coworkers had discussed the show beforehand and the consensus was that they wouldn't sound all that great live, now she says "Michael WHO???" It was her first VH concert. She also thought Dave, Eddie and Al were all fantastic and was very impressed by the show. She said nobody is a better guitarist than EVH and nobody is a better front man than DLR.

Your wife's epiphany is exactly the reason we need a federal law requiring every man, woman, and child to attend a Roth VH show ---- it would finally crush the Lil Wayne/Lady Gaga-ization of music and bring back the good times just like the Mighty Halen did in the late 70's.

"There's a little Van Halen in everybody ---- we just try to bring it out"

It's really funny how fast your ear becomes accustomed to hearing the CVH songs without Mikey screaming like he jerked up his zipper while his nutsack was still hangin' out. I'll be the first to admit it - for years I couldn't imagine Van Halen without Mikey. But when you listen back to the old live boots...it's kinda jarring to hear him screaming over Dave's vocals. I'm not knocking Mikey or his contribution to the band, but damn, it just sounds better now to my ear. Yes, I said it.

That makes me think of the 2 kids beside me in 07/08. One was telling the other that he saw VH in 04. I butted in and said, that wasn't VH, it was Van Hagar. The kid looked at me strange, and said "your one of those". I said one of what? He said "one of those fans that have nothing to do with Sam". I said that's right, Dave or the Grave.

His friend goes "I don't get it...isn't it all about Eddie?". I said "no, it's about Dave AND Eddie...you'll understand soon".

The end of the show they were both fucking VIBRATING. One said "NOW I get it", the other said "you're right, that wasn't Van Halen I saw before" and then yelled "Dave or the Grave, woohoo".

That was one of the highlights of the night for me...

I agree! It's definitely more noticeable in the old live stuff or even some of the demos. Listening to the new live stuff....the harmonies sound perfect to me. Was initially sad about MA, especially on the last tour, but now, he's not even a thought in my mind.

I LOVE that Largo show - have that on DVD. Used to watch it with my kids, especially Little Guitars. That was my kids' fave song for a while cause of that video. They used to imitate the part at the end with Eddie and Dave running back and forth - my middle one even had Eddie's slide down! For me it's always been about Dave and Eddie, in that order. When I saw Dave solo I have to say I missed Eddie less than I missed Dave when seeing VanHagar. Dave solo was a fun show regardless. Van Hagar was really intollerable to me. Not trying to take away from Eddie's brilliance - just saying for me, it is and has always been about Dave. Guess that's why I'm here

The quote of the night for me was during Panama. Dave grabbed himself and said "little Elvis is feeling strong tonight."

Wow. Van Halen was on fire and Dave was on top of his game. His voice sounded spectacular. Overrall performance of the band beat the last tour hands down.
