all this time during the show i thought Dave was just being Dave....
I was watching some of the vids from Chicago and it wasn't that bad. I use in-ears in my band as well and if the mix is off, it can make for a bad night. If his head-mic was messing up and he was over-singing to compensate it would have toasted him out. I thought Indianapolis was a pretty good show from the clips and they all seemed to be having a good time. The "samoan war dance shit" in Romeo Delight was awesome.
I still say, if Dave can sing WIL like this, his voice is fine. Dude was having serious tech issue's but not voice ones.
The backing vocals are amazing!!
WE'RE ON A MISSION FROM ROTH.
Word is getting out how he was fighting the flu but went on anyways for the show in Chicago. Imagine being sick and then your sound equipment is haywire. Dave is a warrior

"We are part of the, not just the culture, but the geography. Van Halen music goes along with like fries with the burger." - David Lee Roth
I just think it's really cool the way Ed keeps calmly moving Dave's mic cable whenever it gets caught up in his stuff.
In 2008 I think he would have lost it.
Here are the vids I took. In the first video at about the 30 sec mark you can see Dave giving the roadie some flack.
Wolf needs to go back and learn Girl Gone Bad...
Well he needs to hit the right pedals...
He is playing it his own way. Sounds fine.
No, the bass during the solo is messed up...
Ah, I will have to give it another listen. I was too busy watching/hearing Eddie.
Back to the blower if Dave was sick you would not want the air blowing on you.
talk about perfection...Dave is even directing the video in the back...listen to him at 6:48..."give me a little black and white here":
Not much choice in the matter... Anyone in the band would have to be physically unable to perform and pretty much require hospitalization in order for a cancellation or a reschedule to occur. The promoters have insurance for this... but there's a ton of money... well over a $million$ per show riding on the band performing on every scheduled night.
I suppose you can believe in some sort of he's tough or a warrior boloney... reality is they can't afford to blow a show. Bottom line is you have contract obligations to fill... take some meds, grab a kleenex and go earn your dinner...
"If you want to be a monk... you gotta cook a lot of rice...”
Once again I don't think any of these video's are that bad. So they had some sound problems and Dave needs to get some original Duck brand tape in Ed's patented stripe. Big deal.

Yea i remember when he said that.. He was calling the shots for sure
This thread kinda dried up.
~crackle~
Oh dear.
Right on RIKK!!!!
CHEERS!!!
Not telling us anything we don't already know. Obviously there's a lot of cash riding on each and every show. The 07/08 tour came precariously close to defaulting on the promoter's insurance, and they don't want a repeat of that. If there is a little bit of hero-worship baloney on my part with regard to Dave, you'll have to excuse me - I thought this was the Roth Army. Although with all the space devoted to Spam Haggar, I sometimes wonder...
