hey mug!! yea good time bro!!!
Well he only sounds bad on Dance The Night Away all the way through. And then it comes up in other songs for what seems like no reason. Maybe he cant hear the band with the ear monitors in ? There are a couple HD clips on You Tube one is GGB and he sound good on those. Still hope the headset is gone but knowing Dave it will be back !!
i also have done some vocal singing in my day...and the more you push it the worse it gets....hopefully this little break he will rest it and come back strong for NYC
Don't get me wrong Dave gave it a full effort....maybe pushing it a little to much...he can still put on a great performance ...im sure he's well aware of how he is sounding so far
Really? All the clips from last night sound fine to me. Dave was not as crowd friendly as normal but other than that it was fine to me.
I've been watching all of these early show threads and the YouTubes of them. I remember that it took a while for him to warm up back on the 2007/2008 tour. He definitely got better with the more shows they did.
Ed and the rest of the band is literally on fire.
Yeah the Way Ed is playing is almost hard to belive after his last couple tours !! Al is always great. Wolf is a hell of a great player. They are tight ! Dave just needs to figue out the oversinging. Whatever the cause. He has never been perfect. But some of it is just wierd.

Ok, so here's Dave going off on a nerd of a roadie. I think it's funny as shit. Dave still sounded good through the song.
If for some reason Dave's problem is due to his throat (dysphasia, polyps, nodules etc) it can be treated. Supposedly, that doctor Steven Zeitels treated Steven Tyler and Roger Daltrey who had the same problems, and it restored their voices, better than before (arguably) Daltrey had his surgery a month before The Who's Super Bowl appearance. I hope that is not Dave's problem, will have to wait and see/hear. Gonna try and stay optimistic and frosty...
Looked like he was going to tuck his wireless back in his pants. I don't see it as a big deal. Dave was like really I got it dude ! Did it go out when he switched to the mic ?
I noticed the cough and raspiness in the first vid I watched and thought uhoh.. sounds like he is battling a bit of congestion. Imagine being sick, struggling with your voice, venue issues, equipment issues... all at once. I imagine grumpiness is natural.
I did think once he went with the corded mic that he seemed more at home.. is it just me? Am I just waxing nostalgic? Just seems more 'Dave' with mic in hand... less worry about the new dancing and more worry about doing what he does best.
I saw two shows last go round and the KC show was like this. No real banter, very workman like... then I saw the Omaha show and it was completely different.. 100 times more fun. I think we will see some duds every now and then and that is human.
Here's the end of the show, where he rips the cord off the mic. Still, no big deal, just very pissed at the sound tech.
I guess my point is. People are saying the entire show was fucked up. "Just listen to DTNA" oH no!!! The whole show is ruined now....
Yeah, the others sound great, not perfect but really good. No idea why he is doing that on DTNA,
and it was one of my faves from last tour. If you're having trouble with it, just drop it for awhile.
On that jump video above, Ed nails the solo and Dave does a pretty decent roundhouse near the end
Ok , Ive seen vh every tour but the 1st, yes Gary tour blhaaa. Seen Dave solo a dozen times. Now he was never the best singer. Iwas dead center last night just be hind the sound and light board Ed's side. Dave is always the boss! He went over to roadie ripped the headset over and dropped downto him. Then walked to front of the stage picked up a corded mic set there by the the front stage roadie. He asked for water twice three times? No onstage drinks? He then had to walk over mid song and get one. Next came the blower he asked then had to say TURN THAT FUCKING BLOWER OFF!Mid song. I mean lets get real
if a band as big as vh is not getingt the shit stright somebody has to pay the price.Mid song on all this had to throw Dave o Dave wants to dance this tour so no headset he's pissed. No roundhouse kicks until jumpl, when he set mic down and did oneof the best i have seen. I thought with all this going on he sounded nothing different. The band is tight Dave is Dave let the tour roll on.
He chewed some roadies ass last tour too. So the shit happens!

The funny thing is that you have some on the links who are saying just that. This is the type of shit you get with the up to minute digital age we live in. Back in the old days, Dave telling a roadie to fuck off would have turned into Dave beating the shit out of him and then fucking his girlfriend in front of him. Remember, Dave always said, who is he to stop a good rumor or whatever. These guys are pros and the VH train last night ran over a roadie.
Does this type of stuff happen on a Beyonce Forum I wonder? " Beyonce is fueding with the 5th backup singer again..." Are Van Halen fans this pathetic to make mountains our of these moehills
Roth Army Canada
long i know but my point was made Dave's boss.
Saw a great show in '07 in MN that had that Van Halen vibe - a killer show by all four. Saw them again in Iowa in '08 and the vibe was not there at all - they just went through the motions and got the show over as quickly as possible (I think because there was a HUGE blizzard that night and some people literally could not make it the show unless they followed a snow plow to the venue in Des Moines, so there were lots of empty seats). However - Dave was ON vocally for both shows. I thought he sounded great all the way through that tour and it was obvious he worked hard to get his voice in shape. Not sure what is going on - if anything - with his voice now, other than age and maybe some kind of cold. Dave is a consummate professional and he's in his element. He will figure it out and the tour will keeping getting better as it rolls on...
My karma just ran over your dogma.
They are gonna get a different kind of devil everybody wants a strange drummer "Kenny" for the rest of the tour.
I would like to be a fly on the wall at the after concert tech gathering Dave threw.
