Really nice guy. Has been putting together some sweet axes lately...in custom colors. He is a friend of a good friend of mine in Seattle who is a major gear freak.

Summer NAMM was always in Gnashville....until about 3 years ago...they had it somewhere else for a couple of years....but now it is back in Gnashville...for at least the next 3 years.

    Cool Day 1 = blur

Just got back, didn't do the post-show booze tonight, but will defiitely be getting piddly with the gang tomorrow and Saturday night! Too beat to deal with posting pics but don't worry, I'm gettin' them.

Quick synopsis: Played through the 50-watt EVH head again...JUST as amazing as I remebered. Wants. Charvel's back in a big way this year. Marshall's doing the "wall of amps that can't be played" deal again...conspicously absent this year is Mesa-Boogie (!) Tons more to do tomorrow, will update.

Now I may be gigging and recording later in the year I may have to get a new backline. A few people have been saying to me that Orange are the best by far, what do you think?

I played through an Orange bass rig. It was nice but should be because of the price. They weren't giving it away.

    Right on, man!

Those 1-watt Marshall heads look cool, lol. For 1 watt, I would hope they do not cost too much. Do the fronts match the model? Do they have a JCM800-1? Tube heads?

Wink Your Boozed RA reporter AM update..

This year has been far...sillier than recent ones...taking lots of pics I'll get around to posting tommorow or Monday...still here... It's been a blur, but met with Avid, hung out with Pete from iheartguitar.com for a bit (cool dude, great guitar blog) and of course the Floyd Upgrades/Boogie Bodies/D-Tuna gang...teched a friend's band's quickie set at the MTD charity gig...good times!

And though I'm not usually into showing my mug here my friend did shoot some footage of me checking out the 50-watt EVH 5150 III head...

sounds like it was noisy over there. Does the 50 watt seem to have better power-stage distortion at moderate level or is it all just preamp distortion?

I think a 50-watt might sound better than a 100/120 watt especially if you can't blast the 100/120 watt amp without overpowering everyone

Me too, especially for smaller venues...and yes, the 50-watt. IMOsounds better at lower volume than the 100, at least side-by-side in that cacaphonous setting..

.NAMM, as great and fun as it is, can still be like one imagines sticking your head in a beehive for 4 days...

I bought a Fender 63 Reverb tank and have gotten totally addicted to it. I'm playing a lot of surf guitar and was thinking a Jag would be cool. I think they are a shorter scale than a Strat. Right now I'm kind of into an early 60's thing. I want to decorate a room full of tacky tiki stuff now. LOL!

I have a 50 watt Sovtek Midget 50H that seems louder than some of the 100 watt heads I have. That little thing is a beast.
