I used to kinda feel bad for Joe - playing with Sammy. Now I think he deserves it. He's as big a fucking geek as Eddie Trunk.
Sammy who? There was a singer in =VH= other than Dave? Sorry, I guess the awesomeness of this new album is getting rid of any bad memories.
In other words, "Nobody's paying attention to me so I have to generate press the only way I ever could; by riding the Van Halen train." Fuck him.
this needs to be moved to the spammy opens mouth thread
"Singing with him, he's the only guy that I know that could just go above [me]," adds Hagar. "I don't care if I'm at the peak of my range; he can get up above me, just squeeze his nuts and get on up there – and right on key, he can mimic my phrasing. He's just … he's so fast. That's the thing that people don't understand about Mike. He learns faster than anyone I've ever met in my life. Joe Satriani, Eddie Van Halen … guys come up with riffs, and come on, I can't f**king play them. I'm sitting here with an acoustic guitar around the house still trying to learn these riffs on this record, and I ain't got 'em down yet … And he's playing his ass off in this band."
"He never played like this in Van Halen," Sammy continues. "Eddie [Van Halen] doesn't even realize what a great bass player he had. I think he never realized it, and that is his complete loss. I remember recording in Van Halen, Eddie was always saying, 'Just play eighth notes.' And he would play all this stuff, and Mike's just going, 'boom, boom, boom, boom.' Boy, Mike's really capable of playing more than that, and he never found out. So Mike and I, one time, we're in Cabo San Lucas when we were in Van Halen — say probably around '89, '88 or '89, when we were still loving each other, and having a good time — and Mike was in Cabo jamming and doing a live broadcast from the Cabo Wabo for some album network that I think used to be around that would do live broadcasts. And Ed is listening to it on the radio, and we get back and he asked me who was playing bass? He went, 'Yeah, yeah, you guys did 'Crossroads' by Cream,' and he goes, 'Who was playing f**king bass on that?' I'm saying, 'That's your brother right over here.' That was Michael Anthony on the bass. And Ed goes, 'Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah?' And then he'd smoke a cigarette, take a hit off a beer and go, 'Hmmm.' But, he didn't get it, you know? But Michael has been tearing it up on this record."
The Fat Clown is transparent.
He thinks that by wrapping up his constant attacks on Van Halen and self promotion in this faux concern for Anthony that gives him the high ground.
Dummy is about 4 years too late for that strategy to work with anyone apart from his brain and ear dead fanbase.

What does Dave say at 8:45 into that vid ?
I've seen some of the criticism of Dave using too high of a register on some songs, but after hearing the audio on this one, is Wolf part of the problem? I don't have the greatest ear, so who is out of tune there, and is Dave going higher than he should trying to cover for Wolf ?
Can't tell exactly what he said, but it sure looks like he's trying to get Wolf on key there

Lol!!!!
Does a month even justify calling it a tour?? Isnt that more of a road trip.
That's more than enough time for all the places they play....
...they were about to add another date because they thought they sold out the Mobil station men's room on Hwy. 41, but they cancelled it because it turned out it was just some dude that wanted to get in there to take a leak.
Hers stop #2 on the "tour"...capacity 5100...somebody make sure the fire exit is guarded..Cant have too many people sneak in or they get a fine.
their next promo poster should be called "Ain't Talkin' Bout music...Chickenfoot" or "Out Of fans, again, once again...Chickenfoot" and even better yet "Might as well JUMP off a high building...Chickenfoot"

When Sammy says Mike wasn't utilized to his potential in VH....does that mean Sammy thinks the bass sucks on those old albums?
Kinda shitty thing to say about Mike. Hey man, you sucked on those 6 records but I know a great excuse to cover for you. We'll blame Eddie.
“Great losses often bring only a numb shock. To truly plunge a victim into misery, you must overwhelm him with many small sufferings.”
It’s probably true that Mike’s full capabilities weren’t exploited in VH, but with EVH as guitarist, wasn’t his role to just be in the background? How many hotdog musicians in a band do you need w/o it detracting from the overall picture?
Plus, I was just thinking yesterday, listening again (and again) to the early stuff, their use of harmonies and vocal arrangements was really spectacular—but over the years I’ve gotten so used to hearing DLR without that type of classic backing vocals, that I don’t really miss it on this album. I don’t know if it is any different a response for those who never really followed DLR beyond his first 2 or 3 solo albums and were more on the Van Hagar side of the fence.
I wonder if hagar will EVER give an interview again without mentioning =VH=?
now watch the new exclusive chickenpoof-tour-shirts!!!
